I think that's the point, if I thought he was better than Stephens or Yoshie then I don't mind paying £20m+ but is the Spurs 4th choice CB really better than them in order to justify that spend? Personally I haven't seen enough of him to comment as he rarely gets a game

It is a fair point but somehow Liverpool have only identified one player for each of the positions they want to strengthen...perhaps they should use google ?
It doesn't mean anything. Di Marzio only puts what he knows, so he may just not know about Saints yet.
Eh, you said it didn't mean anything. I'd take it to mean that we're not in for Vietto. Di Marzio is also guilty of namedropping clubs, he's very reliable but like all journalists, he's about clicks.
Sampdoria have made an offer for Vietto. No Hoedt for Lazio tonight. Neither of which really means much.
So regarding potentially signing Kevin Wimmer (and people being underwhelmed) From what I can tell from some quick reading is that he impressed in his first season when Vertonghen was injured so much so that they offered him a new contract (extra year and presumably improved terms) at the end of that season. He struggled with pre-season injuries and in his first game last season scored an own goal against...Arsenal. So that would explain why the Spurs fans suddenly seem to not rate him. I knew I had heard of him playing well for Spurs as some point
I am only going on what someone on SW posted about Wimmer being the preferred option. Could be rubbish But he has been linked more consistently than Hoedt (but potentially in Saints case that might make it less likely)
I'm a Welsh Saints fan and can safely say Vokes would not be an upgrade at all on what we have. He's improved tremendously in the last couple of seasons but his level now is what I'd consider Gallagher to be if he was given a run to build confidence. What's more, given Burnley's striker shortage he'd cost substantially more than he's worth. So that's a no from me in case I wasn't clear!
