Morning Doc, Championship has always been a bit like that' Rarely do teams go up that play the fluent football. Look at the team that went up in the late 80's. Vince Hilaire, Noel Blake, Batty was coming through, Bairdy etc. Any team that played us knew they had had a game...
Morning all. Amazing how fickle football fans are. Knives are out for Conte already after losing one match and winning the PL last season Guarantee if we dont beat Fulham, well have someone here calling for TC's head. Anyone got any idea how many points we had last season after ten games as thats the benchmark I want to keep an eye on to judge progress or lack of
Morning Eire, damn that Conte, he ruined my accy..... Sack the bastward.... Very balanced view you have Eire...
I'll be up early on wednesday reading the match, or watching if there is a good feed, evening all, the midges are biting tonight a bit like you know who, very irritating and almost insignificant
Eire I was slightly wrong we had 13 points after the first 10 games last season under Monk. First 2 games we lost 3-0 & 2-1 then drew so 1 point after 3 games we then lost again so 1 point from 4 games we won the 5th game to take us to 4 points so we are 2 games ahead of last season points wise so far If we win tomoz we will have the same points as we had after 7 games last season so will be 4 games ahead ....
Maybe so but Eire asked how long before fans start getting on Tommy's back, so I demonstrated what happened last season as there were calls for him to be sacked within the first month plus he was put under massive pressure and had to fend off the sack questions in pressers .... Pointless? no the question was relevant
Thats it. Heavens forbid we lose the next two games, we know only too well some of the rubbish thatll begin to appear. Knee jerk reactions and all that. We need points on the boards early doors to stay in touch with autos and to keep all fans on board
Looking at those first 10 games last season if we had won them we would have been 17 points better off at the end of the season and we know how many points we missed out on for Auto don't we. Early season points are crucial and shouldn't be overlooked and brushed aside if you expect a promotion push. Its always easy to 'well its early doors we can pull it back once the team gel'....
Exactly. Son in law is a Villa fan and is already pissed off at their one point from six start, slating Bruce and hoping hes axed. Hes right up to a point, they already have ground to make up. Im hoping for three or four points this week to keep us nicely in touch
We have thus far played Bolton who will be going down with the wallies, and got a very lucky draw against what will be a mid table team in Preston. The frailties are already there for all to see if you look objectively. Our position last year flattered us for much of the season and ended up about right . Many of you think we are now better than that.... I don't see it. the coach is clueless in this division and will be found out (He is a Hockaday appointment). If Wood goes where does that leave us?
That's exactly right Eire. Usually an average of 2 points per game will get you automatic promotion. Looking at how all the new boys have settled in I think we've made a good start but with 2 difficult games coming up we'll do well to get the 3/4 points you're hoping for. Tomorrow's game will be intriguing as last season Fulham were the best team in possession that came to ER. We will need to be very good tactically and also make sure we keep plenty of the ball ourselves otherwise it will be very hard to get the 3 points. Agree with you though let's see where we are after 10 games before jumping to conclusions. Seems some players have already had their season brought to end judging by some comments.
Waiting 10 games seems fair but Chippy says our manager is another Hockaday & the team is worse than last season plus if Wood leaves we're dead. Wow maybe he should get a job with big ears doing match of the day as all that knowledge is being wasted.
Where di glory say most of that? TC IMO is gone before Christmas unless Rad does as mighty suggests and gives him time to feck it up completely. Wood.. I don't know... £15 mill seems silly money to me. But who would we replace him with, or would it be a return on the leveraged investment Rad has made? The new players... the jury is out. Doc you were about 33% accurate in your post.
