Morning Thought you would be too busy to post preparing your "no progress" lecture for when we lose our first game or your dissertation on Rads being a con man if Wood goes? I guess you can just edit some from your library, will save a lot of time
You seem to making the obvious connection without any help from me. I haven't commented on Wood because I am not sure that turning down a £15mill plus offer is the right thing to do.. it would all depend on what happened next. My only concern is how we play against Fulham..... From accounts of attendees whose opinions are worth the time of day if we repeat Saturdays weak midfield and shot shot shy performance we will get a proper spanking.... Time will tell.
I am inclined to agree. I can't help but think we have brought in, even more, average players that will not play consistently throughout the season.
Non took Marcus, Some claim Beckford is a Leeds Legend, but do they only have to play in PL to become a Leeds Legend. Does it also mean that those who've played for us in L1 and championship, and still do, will not be, or never be classed as a Leeds Legend? Weren't some of those past players who are classed as Leeds Legends in the old div 2, some started there. How many goals would Becchio have scored had he stayed, at a good guess, well over 150 and he would be further up the list of the all time Leeds United league goal scorers. Is it a player's fault that the team, as a team haven't got back to Prem yet, and why should that impact players who performed above and beyond for the club, which Becchio did. Becchio was an iconic goal scorer for us, took his rightfull place, and earned his mantle after playing second fiddle to Beckford for 2 seasons, he achieved No 10 spot in 4 1/2 seasons, great achievement, he was adored by the fans. I think it's a matter of perception which players are classed as Leeds Legends, but Becchio earned the status imo......
That's your opinion Josh, but you have the colloquial control of a fart in a colander.......so what, you're still a Leeds supporter....
Liked the guy big time and still do,but he's no legend, and you certainly don't become a legend on what you might have done.Just the same as Beckford was no legend, his goal in the F A CUP might go down in legend but not him.
Have to agree. I can't see how you can compare 2nd and 3rd division players with league winners. I also liked Becchio but he would never have got into our previous top division teams.
The point wasn't about what he might have become, but what he achieved in 4 1/2 seasons, it was a great achievement; no player has to play in the PL, or the old first division to be a legend to a club, that's an absurd statement to make. There's quite a lot of leeds fans who think Becchio is a legend, and I'm one of'em. There's supporters who won't think he's a legend, that's fine too, but he's still in that top 10 list untill another leeds legend overtakes him........
This is like the 'are Leeds still a big club' debates. It depends how you define big club or, in this case, legend Personally I can see a player in div 2 or 3 that transforms our fortunes could be a legend, even if technically no Bremner or Lorimer. I don't think Becchio meets this criterion though. It's more than being a good player for the time, otherwise half of any successful team are legends and it means nothing
Both Yeboa and Radebe are classed as Leeds Legends, but neither won a title and Yeboa was only with Leeds for 2 1/2 seasons. I'd say Becchio's goals and work rate helped to transform our fortunes during our L1 stay, and helped the team to finish 7th in our first season back in championships. I agree about the "are Leeds still a big club" debate, Becchio is a matter of personal perception.......and he's still in top ten list of all time Leeds United league goals scorers...
Fair response and, at the end of the day this place is about opinions Cheeky, devils advocate question for you - what if Wood stays and breaks into the top ten??
Feck off, what do you mean with no help from you? I can hear you sharpening your quill from Cyprus! I would have to be deaf, dumb and blind (no offence) to not know what you are planning
Strikes me that LeedsLoser is confusing the terms Legend, Popular, and goalscorer. Becchio was a goalscorer who was popular at one time until his choice of ER exit made him persona non grata. Not one of the true legends has been unpopular, far less persona non grata. This is the acid test of a legend. It's not just how well he's done his job.
