what smart person thought that would suffice.. the main public access point to the marina.. mind boggles
When they put it there no one really went to the Marina though...apart from those of us that used Fruit before it became fashionable
They "upgraded it" this year... and it looks exactly the same as it did before. It was as if they ripped the original crossing layout up, then reused the original blueprint by accident. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised it that was the story.
Would rather have the proper "cut and cover" tunnel extending from kingston retail park past where the crossing is, making a land bridge. Don't want an eyesore bridge. For now, a suitably wide crossing will do. The traffic tailbacks caused by this crossing on Saturday for Humber St Sesh were absolutely ridiculous.
Then it didn't matter where the crossing was or where the bridge will be, just cross where you are when you meet the road. This is not a health and safety announcement.
I know there's a long time involved but to quickly summerise the lack of joined up thinking in planing the social night life in Hull goes something like this. Refuse existing city center bars late licences and outside drinking areas, refuse new applications. Accept any and every application in the Prinny ave area despite it being a residential area with a shortage of parking Support a new social night life area Humber st despite it being far from the transport center and the wrong side of the A63
I think in hindsight supporting Humber St was the right choice (because it does bring people to the centre as well) and supporting Princes Ave was the wrong choice ...although I know literally **** all about the subject so I'm just basing that on a common sense approach
I hate Prinny Ave I really do. Not proper boozers, no history, just a hole in the wall. Linnet excepted. They should have pushed to get the pubs in town centre up to scratch, I mean the old Yates boozer still derelict in the middle of town. Bloody tragedy that.
The problem I think was they tried to discourage people from the centre because it wasn't nice for families...and now they're trying to encourage families because it makes it nice Vicious circle, but I prefer the more positive approach currently being tried I don't use Prinny Ave that much and most of the time it's just a stop off when one of us is driving anyway
It's a pity the 1968 plans for the redevelopment of the Old Town didn't go ahead... please log in to view this image
They have upgraded the crossing by dagger lane. Widened it and you can now go straight across instead of having to navigate a barrier in the middle. We managed to get right across in one go amongst the sesh crowds. It was never designed for you lot with yer zimmer frames.
Nah! That was only for Sesh day. Back to the usual stand in the middle of two busy carriageways breathing in exhaust fumes for three minutes the next day.
The builders have just started on the building that housed the Chinese on Bond St, it's being converted to flats... please log in to view this image
