Do you really think he never did it in training.. that was the first time he did that? It is unbelievable to me they put a short are at the front post area. Nonsense
I meant to say ignore the offside debate, Its not overly clear either way. Its just how much of a complete fvck up we make of it all which is astounding.
Yeah thats my point. He cannot in 6 weeks of training and an entire season last year have never closed his eyes and ****ed a clearance. I really think he was stuck there as an after thought
@donga darko really think you are overselling Matip tbh . He was little better than the rest of the defence & in fact played a role in all 3 of the goals conceded plus it was his sloppy pass (which should still have been dealt better with by Henderson) that led to Watfords first chance which was blocked by Lovren. Like every other LFC player in the box his feet never left the ground for the Watford opener

Interesting read but I don't pin this on one or two players it was the team as a whole. They didn't play as a team and had no control of the game which was why I couldn't believe we were in the lead at one point. Rant time now... Hollywood Henderson gets on my tits, every pass doesn't have to go 30 yards you dick, try a one two through the middle you nonce. Wijnaldum is he a footballer? He wouldn't have got in our U23's on that performance. Salah thought he was playing rugby with the amount of times he tried to get the ball over the ****ing bar! Klopp needs to stop ****ing about "training individuals" and realise that some of those players are **** and need replacing, you have money stop ****ing about.
That is bullshit Saint and it's harsh. It's amazing how many times Milner did this last season but no one mentioned or would say it's Klopp's tactics for full backs to push up (which it is as Klopp has said several times). But when Moreno does it, he's 'out of position'. With our full backs being aggressive, we are reliant on our midfielders and defenders to cover. It wasn't a perfect performance but he was arguably better than the othe 3 on the day (which doesn't say much). And the throw in wasn't his fault - he actually did well to get back and win the ball. Can was the one who was being too clever.
It doesn't - as per the laws of the games, the direction of the ball is irrelevant. It's the position of the player that he's playing to.
He was marginally offside. What does it matter, it should never have gotten that far. I'd drop wijnaldum until he learns how to put his body on the line to clear a ball. Get him out of the squad and don't let him back in until he would head that ball out of the danger zone. What a twat.
I agree - it was offside but we deserved to concede that goal through our own incompetence. We just love making numerous mistakes in quick succession.
Since opponents have known our weakness in defending set pieces, they just kick the ball into the penalty area because they know we are going to panic. Gomez committed a foul which led to a free kick and led to a goal eventually. Until we know how not to give free kicks away in dangerous areas we are going no where.
I agree that he wasn't as bad as TTA or, especially, Lovren, but I still maintain Matip was solid in the second half. But getting back to Windy's dreadful header, I was impressed with some of the women's players and their heading this summer. That Steph Houghton is a damn clean head of a ball, and had we had Lucy Bronze on that near post then that ball would have been headed out nearer to the halfway line than the corner it came from. To complete the humiliation for Windy, Jodie Taylor would have slotted home that sitter he missed. A fatuous analogy, of course, but the point is that most of the personnel Jurgen has at his disposal are just semi-adequate, especially when it comes to defending: remember that both Can and Hendo too have both ****ed up at set-piece defending in the past (i remember Can being hopeless at cutting out a corner benteke scored against us recently). And Windy was bought by Klopp.
Going back to our midfield - all three of them are good solid players. The issue is balance and the fact is, they're all too similar. I hope Klopp pulls it out of the bag because we desperately need a new creative mid as well as keeping Coutinho.
seem to remember that Matip had the chance to put in a clearing header instead we got one which travelled further vertically than horizontal - probably a slight exaggeration but it was yet another example of a poor clearance leaving us still under pressure which has been a theme for the last couple of years.
