At 13/8 Beckford looks like another wheelbarrow job at the Curragh 3.35

A disastrous meeting at Arlington overnight for the Europeans.

Tragically, Permian broke a leg and had to be put down after trailing in last in the Secretariat Stakes. William Buick ended up in a local hospital after being thrown from the horse after the line as it broke down.

Rain Goddess did nothing for the Irish Oaks form trailing in well beaten in the Beverley D Stakes although the race report suggests that she suffered interference at a critical stage of the race.

The Arlington Million was won by Chad Brown’s Beach Patrol (who had not won since last year’s Secretariat Stakes) with Marco Botti’s Fanciful Angel second and Aidan O’Brien’s Deauville (the favourite) third.

Super looking race. I was on Verbal Dexterity when Beckford proved too good lto. He came storming home and did it relatively easy. Gordon, on the surface, acts the fool about flat racing but he clearly knows he has a good one here and I doubt he's as blinded as he let's on.

I am surprised Ryan chooses Sioux Nation over Actress in it, I was thinking she would likely give Beckford most to think about today.

I agree though Ron, Beckford so far looks better than these.

4.10 Curragh looks a weak race for a group 3, had a bit on Intelligence Cross at 6/1

Mendelssohn wins and pockets €11,704 for his effort. A long way to reclaim that $3 million spent on him yet.

Is drifting quite significantly now Ronaldo, with the GOAT's both being supported. From what I gather, they're really keen on the Moore mount, Sioux Nation. Going to be fascinating to see how it plays out.

Plumped for two short priced runners coming up...

Sharlanda 5/2 Downpatrick 3.50 - in great form now, move back to hurdles appears to be a wise one and he can chalk up a hat rick with a clear round.

Edit: chalk up 3 from 4 it should read.

Snowstar 2/1 Curragh 4.40 - Should have enough in hand if the 4lb claimer can time his run right towards the finish, I don't think he'll be caught today.

Romanised looks an e/way bet to nothing. Bit of improvement and a clean break and run, should go close with Smullen up.

Great effort by Sioux Nation. The betting leaned heavily in its favour and he duly obliged, quite snug in fact. Beckford ran his race and there was no hard luck story to be told. Couple of nice ones they are.

Oh dear. Just got in after seeing my wife, daughter and grandson off to Spain. Still shows the importance of watching the market. Someone knew something. Whether it was positive about the winner or negative about Beckford, I don't know.
