Prices change based on demand and availability, not just in previous fee paid or player ability. Not sure what you're saying with the second part. I was saying it's harsh to judge someone who didn't have a big part to play for Spuds. If he did have good games when he covered, then even more reason to give him a go.
Second part was out of context I am sure I have heard spurs fans claim he is not much good (on top of saints fans who I presume are underwhelmed with him as a Virgil replacement). And I was musing on that. Because I feel sure he has impressed at some point for spurs
I don't think anyone thinks he's a bad CB, only that even in today's market there could be found a better value for money. Our reported initial offer is already substantial, and if Levy is not happy with 22 million for their fourth choice CB, then it's probably best to look elsewhere. Last three summers we've found three better CB's than Wimmer for twice less money. Even if the market is completely mad this season, better deals than this one could still be made.
Perhaps he is adding on a premium because of the expected Van Dijk money... Or just keeping the price higher until they get another defender in otherwise they will be short in the position (especially with 3 at the back)
And i don't now why we've offered that much at the begin with. If the roles were reversed, Levy would open the bidding at 3 million pounds.
Did you read my later post? Value of a player is affected by many things. My point is that I'm happy for the board to sign who they think is right at the price they think is right. Availability the key point too. The better value may or may not be available. I'd also not necessarily accept we did make a bid for him. It is just a rumour at this stage.
I knew there was a simpler way to put it. I know there are many factor that determine the price of a player. The reported fee for Wimmer is above what I would be prepared to pay for him, but it's not my money, and if the club feel that's the best deal around so be it.
Well Knowing me, Knowing you (aha-ha), it will be late in the window and be more like a S.O.S, but I suppose that is the Name of The Game. As long as Les Ring Ring that phone. Sorry about the puns in this post, but you should really say to me Thank you for the Music

After years of people moaning we dont spend enough, it would be somewhat ironic if we did get wimmer and people complain we have over spent.
Who cares about the price of a player? This is a multi multi million pound business, not mateys corner shop. If they think he will improve the team then who cares how much he cost
It is a well known fact that any fan with Google will make a better job of recruitment than professional football people with vast resources can ever hope to achieve.
