It did indeed. Won't win 'em anything though. The useless coach now has some flare players on like Duggan, but it's all too late. He clearly doesn't like flare.
Well done Holland. They had some really good players and they all actually passed the ball to each other.
3-0. Samson must go and let someone else have a go. Trouble is, he's so cocky he thinks his way is right. It ain't!!
Samson has been a big improvement on Hope Powell. and last night's result really wasn't down to him. Key players didn't turn up, and I think we missed Karen Bardsley in goal, she commanded the area better than Chamberlain did. Worst offender last night was Millie Bright. I think we all saw the results of someone modeling themselves on John terry. She was slow, she hardly moved to clear the first goal that crossed the line about a foot from her, her distribution was terrible, and she capped it off with an own goal. I do also need to add - we should have had a couple of penalties in the game, especially when White was shoved over in the area with the defender making no effort to play the ball whatsoever. The ref was very lenient towards the home team, who appeared intent on strong-arming the English players all over the pitch.
Yes, good to see someone saw the game like me. While Holland for short periods only, played football at a higher level than we managed throughout, we had as much of the game, most chances and corners. England were the strong team physically if not technically and it certainly looked more a draw than a 0-3. The missed chances, the huge error for the 2nd killer goal and the clear pen we didn't get did for us.
Amazing how we all see a game differently. For me, it was Sampson's fault, because in every game I've watched England have hoofed the ball forward aimlessly to a lone forward. He never started Duggan, who I think is our most gifted player and he seems to prefer hard work to flare. They played a little better once they were a goal down last night, but overall I thought the Dutch were much the better side, just a France were in the quarter. Maybe we could have had a penalty, but they all looked rather soft to me. Still...........it's good that we're talking about the womens' game eh?
Must have missed this transfer but I see in League Cup play that Chris Samba has surfaced at Villa who beat Colchester 2-1 on a waterlogged pitch with Samba giving away a penalty which was saved - wonder how his carthorse pace is these days?
Not a bad day at all for me. QPR play well and draw away. Villa lose - two friends support them. Brentford in the drop zone. Happy Days!
