They will be OK when they get their star players back. They did well today despite being short handed.
Is that not how you would have responded? If not then go ahead. I was making a general assumption as to how one would respond rather than you personally.
I thought that was quite a positive performance. As others have said, once it clicks it'll really click in my opinion
Yeah, he had two proper chances which he fluffed. I was equally surprised, but his all round game is there.
It was a solid 7/10 performance for me, certainly on another day we could've won that 2 or 3 nil. we were never in real danger of losing the game and you can't really judge how our season will go from one game. I think that either (or both) Gabbi and Charlie will easily get double figures and there will be goals from midfield. Remember that Lemina never played and the transfer window is not shut yet, there are still a few things that could happen before the end of August.
One decent save toward the start of the second half from Abraham's shot - at that precise moment where I thought "oh here we go..."
Think we are a bit short in a couple of areas. Need a better attacking central midfielder - I like JWP but his shooting/heading in open play is hopeless so it's pointless playing him there. Also need a big dominant centre back. Maya and jack won't cope with the big quality forwards some other teams have
I think Swansea came to frustrate and score on the break, which they may have done on a couple of occasions, but we had more decent goal scoring chances than they did, but reverted to our shooting form of last season. Disappointed and bemused by the Romeu booking and the lack of a card for Fabianski, whose time wasting at goal kicks, made FF look like an amateur. Their substitutions took an eternity, so I was further disappointed by just 4 minutes of added time. I felt sorry for Gabbiadini. He worked hard yet, unless I missed an earlier pass, he had to wait until the 51st minute for a ball played through the channel. We really must work to his strengths more, not just bounce the ball off of him. Surprised that Redmond made it through the full 90 minutes as I thought he offered the least out of all our forward players. Yoshida could have had a hat trick, but certainly should have had one, from that header. Just a thought, but can we move our home games to Staplewood? All the training videos show our players hitting the back of the net, from all angles there. I expect Claude is sat at home thinking "I told you it wasn't my fault they can't score".
What's not to be happy about? How many shot would please you? 50? 75? We created a tonne of good chances against a well organised side which had only one intent; to defend it's goal. Yeah there were only two shots at target, but that fact is so misleading. Yoshida had two glorious chances, another two fell for Tadić, Manolo had a couple of good shots. In none of these occasions did they hit the target, but does that mean that these weren't big goalscoring chances? No, absolutely not. So 27 shots of which 6-7 were very good chances to score? I call that a good performance. Sometimes they don't go in, nothing anyone can do about it.
Did you notice at that late free kick, that Sophie and Dusan were squabbling like a pair of school kids over who was going take it, Maya stepped in, took the ball and took it himself, so close just a puff of wind blew it past the post.
Much of a muchness, though. Good performances that lead to few shots on target are kinda our stock in trade; we were the only team in the top twelve last year to get fewer than one-third of their shots on target, so while this was an extreme version of such, it wasn't totally out of character to generate and then promptly waste a bunch of chances.
The board and the commentator said 4 minutes injury time, I reckon we had about two minutes where the ball was actually in play.
