Hello everybody - haven't posted here for a long time as I'd lost my password and had problems getting logged on. So watched todays game and thought Saints looked decent enough, ball didn't sit right for them and thought they were unlucky not to score. Unlike the end of last season thought there was much more drive and attacking intent today. Not so disappointed but still have Saints players that annoy me, especially Davies who seems to slow everything down and Forster who's just a big lumbering oaf! LOL. Thought the ref was a complete tw*t though and wasn't consistent at all, two good penalty shouts. Cheers everybody!
Striker wasn't the biggest problem. 6 shots fell to our two strikers; 23 fell to other players. Now, you'd like the strikers to have gotten something from those 6, but only a fraction of the wastefulness falls at their feet.
Although I agree completely, in this situation it is worth remembering that fans aren't reacting to just today's game. I think it is the fact that the exact same problems have carried over from last season that is the cause for this frustration. Obviously you will now respond saying that fans need to be patient and allow time for change to occur. Which of course is true. But it is frustrating nonetheless that we haven't actually taken action to directly combat our problems of last season. A manager can only do so much with the tools he has at his disposal - which is one of the reasons I felt for Claude Puel. Of course there is time left to change that, but I can't see us signing an attacking midfielder.
So you're happy with that performance? 25+ shots on goal , 2 on target and you wonder why people are fustrated/downbeat/annoyed. Yes it seemed better than under puel, but against a very poor swansea side with their 2 main players out , it simply isnt good enough.
Swansea's defence isn't poor. I thought the chances created were good enough but just our finishing, again. Mark out our central striker and we've just got nobody else who can finish.
Was better football overall. I'm still pretty unsure about it clicking with this group, though...without personnel changes, I suspect that we're going to have quite a few days like this.
Good performance but that lack of quality in front of goal really is telling. Once we score we will be fine. Although he didn't affect the result, have to say the ref was inconsistent to say thr least. But hey 37 games to go.
It'll come. Have to remember this is Pellegrino's first game in charge. Like he said it is not his team yet , give him time.
Good to hear. Would be nice having someone who could find the back of the net regularly though. Who was our last one to do that? Rickie?
I'm not doubting Pellegrino. I'm doubting that we're ever going to get consistent goalscoring from our supporting cast, as none have really demonstrated a talent for it previous. Edit: I'd really like to try Gabbiadini in the wide forward role on the right, with Austin up top. Would be good to have another person coming in on those crosses from Bertrand (the balls aimed at JWP's head notwithstanding, heh) and someone capable of driving toward goal from a deeper position.
