What happens if Barca now decide that the whole thing is getting too expensive, if they also buy Dembele, and decide not to make another bid for Couts. He's then stuck looking like a **** and all these pundits too. Its not we're going to go cap in hand to Barca and say 'you can have him for half a mill now he's handed in a transfer request'
Klopp's a great manager but that match just proves he has been incredibly naive about this window. We need a real defensive midfielder and a centre back. We simply cannot defend.
Yup. I am more concerned that anyone can see where to get goals off us. If i can see it everyone should.
VVD and presumably Keita. It isn't down to Klopp to actually do the deals! Do you want him to sweep up at Anfield as well?
I'm not denying that he has tried to do deals. As a manager in the PL you'd expect a shortlist longer than two names. West Ham are in for William Carvalho for £30-£35m. He'd be perfect for the DM role and allow us to alternate between Can, Wiji, Hendo, Milner and Lallana for the other two spots. He sold Lucas who can cover CB and DM. Both positions where we were already lacking in quality and he hasn't brought anyone in. PS: anyone else getting annoyed with all the pundits, ex-players etc. saying we should 'let Coutinho go' just because Barcelona have come calling? Pathetic 'journalism'.
Yeah, it's not Klopp's fault if club's ain't prepared to sell, but in his presser he said there is no plan B or C and that it's plan A or nothing. His credentials can't hide him from criticism on that issue because the fact that he knows he needs to buy shows he knows we're not at the strength required in the areas he's targeted. Seems a bit amateurish/naive not to have alternatives.
Oh I don't think he's blameless but the club appear to be unable to do the deals he wants. I think the defensive frailties are also a consequence of the style of play Klopp likes. I don't know what his record was like at Dortmund; maybe they had proper defenders; but this problem isn't solely one of personnel I don't think.
Perhaps. But today's goals were a consequence of personnel as well as a vulnerable defensive strategy.
Thank god that I'm not the only one who saw that and thought, why aren't we hijacking West Ham's bid. Carvalho is exactly what we need and at the price he's a steal.
Well that's Couts off listening to Klopp. Gone from "going nowhere" to.."i only manage the players available and can not control decisions of owners or sometimes players..."
Can't say I blame Couts, If I had to play along side Lovren I'd want to leave as well. He's probably looking at the lack of activity of transfers from us and thinking why haven't the club bought anyone to help carry the burden.
Yes on not buying. No on coutinho..they are only saying what I said after all... it's just about the acceptable price.
My issue is the idea that 1) everyone lies down for Barcelona 2) we owe the player something and cannot 'deny him his dream move'.
Where have we laid down? They can have the idea but if we are relaxed about it and see we are a side who are not even favourites for 4th and a top side wants him..but the fee must be right
