As much as he'll be a welcome squad addition, I can't help but picture Danny Rose on his sofa with his laptop using well known search engines as we speak.
My first though was remembering when we wanted Schneiderlin and got Stambouli, as he sounds an awful lot like the cheap alternative to Seri.
Papa Cheikh Diop sounds like a player that pops up when you've been playing a football game for too long. They start generating youngsters with names from other players. Papa Bouba Diop + Cheikh Tiote = New midfielder from Spain, apparently.
Edit - not confirmed but strongly rumoured. Levy is apparently in Amsterdam trying to get the deal done. Which begs the question... why has it taken him until August 11 to travel a short hop across the channel to get this done?
Wikipedia shows his current team as Spurs. Although they also bizarrely describe him as a "Chinese Ledley King".
If €35m is true, that will be curtains for Wimmer, probably for around £20-25m. I can't see us spending that sort of money without recouping some more cash.
Look how much they've already brought in. Signing Sanchez wouldn't mean anyone else needs to go. Wimmer will probably move on for other reasons.
Yeah, quite possibly. Unless the sale of walker (in particular) is being seen as "bonus" money and is being banked? IMO, I'd rather we kept Wimmer as well. But clearly Poch has gone off him.
"Hope to agree a deal over the weekend". A looonnnggggg weekend in Amsterdam. It's ok Daniel, we all understand.
Is this guy knocking on the first team door kind of player? Or is he just here to have a game of Dominos with George, Clinton and Sissoko?
He's top notch. I watched a fair bit of Ajax in the EL. He's a monster, think Victor Wanyama type of strong. Barca wanted him when he signed for Ajax but he wanted to play straight away. We're not bidding our record transfer fee on a likely prospect. If we sign him then Kieran Trippier's going to have to raise his game, considerably.
