This. There are some on Twitter calling for Ashley to go. Them knackers won't be happy until we riddle ourselves with debt and plummet down the leagues like other clubs.
His f@cking incompetence over the past few years is proof in itself that he's been completely detrimental to our development. Whilst he may be correct about our current situation, it's his fault entirely that we are where we are. I'm afraid he's the worst thing that's happened to the club since Lord Westwood and his pocket lining cronies back in the day.
Will never trust Mike Ashley, but it's only recent that it's become rare to NOT hate your owner. Pretty much every club's fans did at some point in the 90s MA's not the manager and, when he isn't employing Pardew/Carver/Mclaren I really couldn't give a toss how big of a prick he is. Face it, these last two years or so have been a gigantic improvement from him compared to the other 8
Make your mind up mate. One second you're saying it's 10 years and then the very next second you're saying it's a decade. What is it ? 10 years or a decade? Too many old cronies on here these days.
Difficult one that to be honest - 10 years or a decade? I think i'll go for the latter. Less of the old, all the grey hair has gone, as has the mobility scooter.
The trust in Mike Ashley was lost quite some time ago. He tells us that we can't compete with Man City or that he can't write cheques for £200m. Surely none of us have asked for that. I think the squad is good enough now to stay up in all fairness, but I wish we could trust our owner.
If ever there were FOUR words that don't go we'll together they are "in Mike I Trust". You have to earn trust in life, and he hasn't done that by any stretch of the imagination. I'm like you, I think the squad is good enough, but, the sad thing is, it could be a damn sight better.
Exactly as expected. It was delusional for people to start with all that 100m bollocks. Even people in the club were saying it to the likes of Windy and the press. It's just utter horseshit. We are poor and were always set for a relegation battle. Ashley won't gamble (and is suggesting he can't) like others are doing. We are being outspent by a lot of clubs. Just the way it is. Until some rich person who wants to lavish money on us for ****s and giggles comes along, people best buckle up and try to enjoy the ride.
This rollercoaster has more downs than ups. It's a crappy ride really... Don't know why I love it but I do.
Well we have no money. So we will have to do it the old fashioned way with hard graft, passion, tactical savvy, belief and togetherness as a club... Fans, manager, owner and players all united all going in the same direction... Ffs this is football and our club let's just get on and play the ****ing game Howay the lads.
Need to get these lot to pay for the naming rights: ST JAMES GROUP LIMITED If we tell them they also owe us for the last 124 years as well but we will accept 40million for back naming rights and 5 million per year going forward it should bump up our transfer pot.
When the PL cash cow explodes our club will survive and others will fail. This is financial reality. If Mike hadn't come along Fat Fred would have run us into the ground by now. Most analysts accept this. Just look down the road and over to Leeds too to see what a losing gamble looks like. I look at things longer term. And I'd prefer him to a lot of the other clowns around.
No cos I didn't know how bad our finances were. I had a hunch we were overspending but nowhere near as much as we actually were. Given what I know now... i'd go for long terms stability over a boom and bust cycle every day of the week. Seen too many clubs go down the ****ter over recent years who've spent big. The issue Isn't our owner... it's the disgusting environment of over spending the likes of the Arabs have created... along with Sky.
Part of the issue in the first 8 years was the owner but in the last two years the policies have changed. There's a proper manager in place now and Ashley isn't holding money back for a rainy day anymore. We're rebuilding at the moment and as long as Ashley doesn't go back to stupid knee jerk decisions and policies we'll keep progressing under Rafa. You are totally right about the lack of regulation on spending. It's gone way too far.
