True but I think this is about more than that It's about status and the standing firm is symbolic of that Hopefully we win and Barca eventually **** off and more clubs in the future do the same It's ridiculous this attitude that all clubs must be immediately subservient to them and they decide they can have the pick of the (big name) players
yeah but your stance was that Soton should do what they can to get rid of VVD as it's disrupting the team and their whole season (this doesn't apply to other pool fans before they jump on this). Surely, you dont want the coutinho saga to be running to the end of the window. Also this is taking away from you guys buying this window (probably FSGs dick dastardly plans)
As things stand FSG are onto a winner, money to spend not spent, but if they end up accepting a Barca offer on top of not spending any more in this window they will face a **** storm like He&G did.
But who benefits from that? Not Coutinho and certainly not Liverpool..... Just sell the little ****, fleece Barca for as much as you can, and sign Mahrez for half the money you get from Barca, that way you are rid of an ungrateful **** who doesn't want to play for you, you have signed a decent replacement, and you are still quids in. Keeping him against his will helps no one. Yeah sure, it spites Coutinho and Barca, but the Liverpool board need to be thinking about whats best for Liverpool, not spiting other clubs.
Not really. Despite all the accusations based on fear rather than evidence, the club has done everything that has been asked of them in refusing to sell him. So far. We can't prevent him from putting in a request, it might be annoying, but it isn't anyone's "fault".
That's all true but at some point this BS needs to stop ... for the good of the game The culture has to change otherwise football is just going to continue to be a playground for the players and in the stranglehold of a tiny minority and privileged elite
Am not sure this is the case. Or at least, I cannot believe that is the case. It would be incompetence of the highest order.
Ahhh so cos I've told you I agree but it wasn't fun enough you have ignored it and pretended I didn't agree with you... As I said many times Southampton have self inflicted the situation on themselves and it is distracting and now thry have a fake virus keeping him away from team. Southampton issue is they didn't do business when a handy up front 60 or 70 mil could be got Lfc have refused 2 bids from barca which apparently are about half his value upfront and maybe some later. I've already said fsg have ****ed up releasing any statement if thry were really not wanting to sell as it paints them in a corner. You will also need to note I have said I doubted ever seeing coutinho in a red shirt again and that I expected the main issue is manner of paying transfer fee.
Another problem with selling is that no matter how much we get, we'll get milked of it when we try to buy. What we've done to Barca will happen to us as well. I think we should just refuse - tell him he can go next year.
The culture wont change until some rule is implemented to stop it. Even if you "made a stand" and stopped this sale, it wont stop it from happening again to other clubs, or even yourselves again at a later date.
I believe at this point anyone else is a panic buy... I believe we had a very clear cb and cm and failed to get them.. I think klopp was unsure on Robertson and he is another Edwards pick that took time to convince klopp on....
Unless you sit down with Coutinho, and get him to agree to stay one more year, then keeping him against his will is a terrible idea. He wont play for you if he is still adamant he wants to go to Barca and your team is weakened by default. Sell him, get as much cash as you can, and buy a replacement who wants to be there. Even if he isnt as good, like i said earlier, it will still be better than having a sulky little twat in the squad whose heart isnt in it. Mahrez would cost £40m, tops. He would be a decent replacement. If you got £70m from Barca, spend 40 on Mahrez, you get a good player, and are left with £30m. Everyones a winner, winner, Chicken dinner
Why should the club be amicable for its best players. I'd be worried if it came out we were more than happy to let our best players leave without putting up a fuss. All players that go should be made to put in a transfer request, if they wanna leave then formally tell us and then we'll decide if we are happy to let go. Club did the right thing with Torres in terms of transfer request. If you're that desperate to get to a new club you'll forgo the loyalty bonus
