The holy grail for them is the PL and they have still yet to win it, any manager that doesn't get close will surely get sacked, Rodgers even got them second place and he soon got the bullet.

    That's why he's 40/1.

I doubt they'll sack him mid season though.

Copied from TSW, don't know how credible the poster is.......

Just came back from evening with matt le tiss. He's obviously very close to club.

-Liverpool sent a message to wrong person, that's how they got found out. Said no way after their apology and that error we will let him go there. Said he thinks he will stay as won't want to not play for a year before World Cup and have to apologise to everyone. Says agent the same one Koeman got before he left the problem.

-last week vvd said he wanted to be reintegrated into training but refused to play matches so that he could put in his statement that he didn't refuse to train. Terrible. Says club making him train at different times to players and different changing rooms. Matty agrees with club stance.

-says club looking to sign two more players.

-kat is going to sell 80% of club apparently. Said he knows she wouldn't sell to anyone to harm it and very confident about future.

Echo reporting that no bids have been received. I doubt there is no interest, but no one wants to wade into a storm. He is a very good CB (and may improve more) but his valuation is high (and who says we have even set a price). Most teams behave properly and have decided to submit a bid only when it is likely to be considered and received favourably. I bet Les has had a couple of phone calls along the lines of: Hey, Les, is your boy for sale? No, fine....how's the missus.'

I'm starting to think that Saints really will hold on to him so whilst VVD needs to get his head around playing again, we need to get our head around supporting the whole team including him. Takes a bit of doing really! But now that we have apparently secured him for another season (or at least till January) can we put a cheeky bid in for Coutinho just to wind up the scousers (who are already worked up to an almighty frenzy).

Everton have sold their only goal scorer and are selling their most creative player. They've used the scatter gun approach to signing players.

No way they'll break into the top 6 this season imo.

Couthinho is staying and with Salah and Mane on the wings we'll be deadly. Clearly our defence needs some work, but to say we'll stumble quite spectacularly is a bit ott <laugh>
Sturridge isn't even a starter. Lallana will be a miss for 2 months but we have enough cover, especially as Coutinho plays deep nowadays (Fabregas role) and we have 2 midfielders to have alongside Coutinho in midfield. Probably Can/Henderson and Wijneldum. I also think we'll make a midfield signing before the window shuts.

I agree about Spurs and Arsenal. I think Man City have to be huge favourites this year, Pep simply has to win the league with the money they've spent.

Whether Southampton's stance would change if Van Dijk holds firm & an offer of £60m or more comes in remains to be seen. (@adamleitchsport)

Suggests if Chelsea come in with 60mil he'll be gone (possibly!)? I hear this guy is itk and close to Saints?

He's only supposing. Yes, he is close to the Saints, but in this instance he is guessing like all of us. A good offer from Chelsea (or anyone but Liverpool) would be a way out....but we don't know if Saints are looking for a way out. Possibly...but none of us are privy to the club secrets. Pretty good at secrets at SMS.
