We've got the 6th highest revenue in the country and pay the 6th highest wages. I believe it's about 12th in the world.
We're paying what we can afford to pay, roughly, though it can go a little higher.
If Rose wants us to sign more top, established players, then we can't give him a substantial payrise.
He's acted like a spoiled child and he needs to go.

 

Realistically you cannot expect to keep players like Kane and Alli on 50k a week.
Kane would command a 250k a week salary at City, Chelsea or United.
Who wouldn't want to quadruple their salary by moving to a new employer?

Spurs need to pay up or resign themselves to the fact that they will have to start flogging their best players, it's that simple.

Yeah but the gap between you and the top 4/5 is massive, that gap needs shortening if you want to keep the players.

As Bodinki said, how can anyone of your players turn down a double/triple/quadruple salary?

It's obviously not like you're paying them minimum wage but if I was loving life on 50k a week and someone offered me 300k for the same job (probably what will happen to Dele Alli) then I'd be off in a shot.

 

The difference between Kane and most other players in world football is that he's playing for the team he supports and is fixated on personal trophies.

I can't see him leaving. Spurs are set up to give him goals and he wants to break Shearer's record.

Good luck to him, but I don't see him doing it.

 

It's not Alli that's kicking off, though.
He'll probably get another new contract soon, but it still won't be the money he'd earn at Barca, Real or PSG.
Rose, on the other hand, is getting close to market rate. There's probably on three clubs here that would pay him more.

We can't pay what City do, so I'm not sure what people are saying we should do.
Emulate Leeds and Portsmouth and **** the club for decades? Pass.

The difference between Alli and Rose is that Rose is 27. He's in his peak and he feels as though he should be winning trophies and earning top money. Can't really blame him.

I'm not suggesting that you should go bust but surely there is scope for higher wages nowadays with the TV money. If there isn't then the players will go.

Newspapers are printed and released very early on in the morning. Training probably starts at 9/9:30 ish. Plenty of time for the players to have picked up their phones/read a newspaper.

 

We made signings, but no one was talking about it.

Ake and Terry hardly played for us last season.

If he wants to go, then he should've sorted it out months ago. Walker did and they've got the same agent.
Going to the press and acting like a **** is unprofessional, ungrateful and intentionally disruptive.

Your wage bill has nearly doubled in two years and it's still about half of ours.
You might pay the odd player over £100k, though it still looks like at least two of them want to leave, but your overall bill is much lower.
If we offer Rose £100k, then what will Alli, Kane, Eriksen, Alderweireld and the rest want?
We'd double our own wage bill, which would then be higher than our revenue.
It's not possible.
