So that leaves it to him, if he wants out hell make it public like VVD. Personally I don't think he'll do that.

Has he handed in a transfer request?

I don't think he'll kick up a stink either, but we'll find out in the next couple of days. Even if he does, that statement is definitive and I think they'll leave him to stew and get over it anyway.

I love it when clubs do this to players, I think its hilarious.
Players sign a contract and think they should be allowed to leave without handing in a transfer request, so they can get a pay off.
    **** em!

If he hands in a request and Liverpool still keep him to his contract, against his will, then I admire them for their persistence, but think ultimately its a stupid idea to try to keep a player that pissed off on the books, you may as well cash in while his stock is high, you will get no benefit from forcing him to stay, he wont play for you.
But if he hasn't handed in a transfer request, he can **** off.
    Greedy ****s.

Could be that they've met with the player before releasing the statement?

If they met and he has agreed to stay, then it's all Kool N' Da Gang! <ok>
I would expect a statement from Coutinho himself in the next 24 hours if this is the case though.

If they'd met with him and he was cool about it, surely they'd have put something like "and the player fully accepts our position" and then it's totally stone dead?

The player himself will now have to completely act the **** if this is to have any further legs.

Yeah that's true, it would make sense to mention that the player fully supports the decision.

You do think why would you turn that down. But who do you replace him with and 90 million now is nothing to English clubs, especially when you are trying to build a team to fight for trophies. Funny how everyone is telling Barca and Madrid to do one and PSG committing daylight robbery for Neymar

Which drives some speculation but I think it's genuine.

    While this was resolved probably.

Same as Costa's "injury" in January when he was trying to move to China.
