Realistically, no top-drawer player is going to come to Arsenal before Champions League Qualification is secured.

If they'd run out 3-0 winners last night, new players may have been brought in straight away.

Someone like Gary Cahill may still come in, players from non-Champions League Clubs. But expect no top-drawer signings until qualification is secured.

Is Wenger Parkering his Jagielka, a Dunn deal, or does it Mata? Some might seem over the Cahill.

  3. And this problem has it's origins in the woeful management style that has plagued our club over this past year or so. I'm sorry to have to say this yet again but if Arsene did not appreciate that key players would be on the move, no matter how much he believes he would like to keep them, then he's a fool to have done so. If we had bought in January those players may still have been around. If we had done the business at the start of the transfer window, we may well have slammed Newcastle on Saturday and not have to face Udinese since our January transfers would have helped us secure at least third place in the EPL last year. Instead we find ourselves in this position today because Arsene or whoever won't spend when necessary, looking to save a few pounds but losing the opportunity to gain more. If we are dumped out of the CL, there will be less money this January and the players whom we have not bought before Aug 31 will become more expensive as well since all the clubs we approach in January will know we are desperate. For this I thank the management of the club. Thanks an awful lot. Nobody does it like you!!!!!

i still think this is highly likely. it means no new players for Liverpool, or Udinese, or Man Utd as they won't have bedded in by then. Earliest a new player is going to be available is Swansea.

the Wilshere injury is hitting HARD!

More likely no more new signings at all this summer if Wenger runs true to form.

More likely the usual excuses about no quality available, time for a change of manager.

  7. I cannot see how he expects us to get through this tough period on what could be our weakest though perhaps not least spirited of squads.

Well, if nothing materialises then I don't see how he can ride out the storm. Trouble too is that should we hold steady over the next three games, he's going to think his policy is bang on target. The more I think of it and I hate to say this, the prospect of cutting his own loses and riding out on the back of three EPLs and countless FA Cups seems a good way to go because this cycle of indecision and stubbornness is too ingrained to have any hope of change.

I think everyone is jumping the gun. We have added to the squad already, mainly in the way of pace and directness (which is very good imo for the style of our game). But i also think AW is looking to get atleast one more player in.

We are running at a profit for transfer activity already with Fabregas going for a large fee and possibly Nasri going for a massive fee as well. And AW will have immense pressure on him to re-invest that money. I think we will definately see one or two new faces in the squad before august ends - although not sure that they will be here before our remaining august games!

  9. Well it's taking an awfully long time my friend

and that we won't see them before the coming crunch fortnight is worrying wrt it's possible consequences. The thing though is that all this anxiety could have been avoided. The delays and indecision is simply down to poor management since all the known elements of this scenario were available at the start of this transfer window, if not before. I appreciate that injury cannot be forecast but even without this, we were not looking strong and the seeming lack of urgency to address this is worrying.

I should imagine transfer dealings are alot harder to complete than we might think. I also think it's obvious to anyone that AW has been trying to strengthen the squad whilst also tryign to convince Nasri/Cesc to stay.

Yes i agree we could of just decided to sort Nasri/Fabregas at the start of the window, but i think it is difficult to knwo the best way to move forward when two of your best players are tryign to engineer moves away from teh club.

It is clear to me however that if Nasri goes we will be looking to get a new creative player in the middle of the park.

Also we never know about Arsenal transfers until they go through usually so don't get too worried if we don't hear any noises from the club - just wait till the transfer window closes and see what our squad looks like.

i do think wenger has said things about buying players more this window than any others in the past, so he has gotta be doing some deals

brum has said we have enquired about scott dann and bolton said we asked about cahill and same for jag, even though we aint done any deals they are trying

  12. Well he does not have a lot of time to do them and if the offers going in are so low as to be laughable then they may as well not have made them after all. The point is my friend, Arsene has had a long time to plan for this. Instead here we are today, short in just about every department.

we knew how much Cahill would be, and Samba, and Mertesacker. Cahill has started looking the business (and he's cheap on Fantasy Football!!). Wenger could have offered Bendtner as part of the deal if he'd agree, or Lansbury on loan, or Vela on loan...there's tons of options to bring the price down. But he hasn't.

I'd like to see us get Vertonghen tbh.

But it is clear that AW is still trying to sign players.

Expect to see atleast one more new face at Arsenal before the transfer window is up.

  15. The press is full of this and that.

    We are full of hope.

However this doesn't mean we will get anyone in before Aug 31. Arsene made promises in January and look what happened. And it wasn't a case of no time or anything like that. It was bad management and poor foresight. I've heard it all before and if we are dumped out of the CL next week, there is another barrier to key players coming.
