There is a problem with us signing Viera or any Siggy replacement right now though. To sign Viera or any AM now will be very costly. In Vieras case his agent is looking to max out on any deal due to Vieras age, 27, and will be demanding big big wages for him. But what if we bought him and any Siggy deal falls through what then? We'd be paying Viera or any replacement AM a ton of money and also we'd be obliged to up Siggys wages too, that's how it works. We could end up having two highly paid players playing one position. It could interfer in selection as Clement would be firced to pick both players as starters which could make anyone left out to make way very unhappy, Narsingh, Carroll, Ayew, Fer, whoever. Why we wont be signing any one to replace Siggy until we know for sure he's leaving. Clement must have contacts in Germany and I know there are some untouched gems playing in the Bundesleaga in all positions. I hope PC utilises a few of his contacts and looks there.
He had a buyout clause of £30m euro. Las Palma's will probably double the buyout clause which means he's out of our reach. We'll then waste £25m on Chadli
I'd happily have Vieira and Gylfi in the team. Narsingh, Ayew and Fer are average anyway. Why not sell Fulton, Ki, Grimes, and Sicknotero and buy Viera to play with Gylfi. That would improve the squad.
I know but we don't know how deep the grumblings would be and all because we shot our load too soon. We have to know Siggy is definitely on his way before we replace him.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...cer-chadli-gylfi-sigurdsson-replacement-also/ Interesting, if Joe came back I don't care what happens to Siggy, or care if we signed Bony, or told Vieras agent where to go. Joe coming home would make up for it all imo
My point completely, though I can see us not replacing Siggy until January, nothing surprises me anymore with this crap board down the Liberty. Valley is also under the misapprehension that Siggy might stay, the truth is there is not a cats chance in hell that that is going to happen!.............
To put that price into some sort of perspective. That's equivalent to about 8 days wages for Rooney ( pre sale to Everton ).
Stoke won't want to part with Joe! cannot see that happening unless Joe puts in a transfer request.............
Me neither Phil, he's a star for them as Siggy is or was for us, but we can hope. Cant see us forking out £20+m for any player, regardless of what we get for Siggy.
Just underpins how useless Jinx has been these last 2 or 3 seasons!............... PS: By the way are you having an identity crisis? Just an observation like..............
Stoke have sold too many players in this window to let Joe go. I see Mark Hughes is one of the favourites for 1st manager out
