All in all, not a bad result for a club that has never been quite of the status of Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal and has not sold out like previous smaller clubs like Chelsea and Man C have. We are currently a much more successful version of Everton.

1 League Cup in 18 years.....much more successful?

Your current first XI is very good, but they've still won **** all.

Unless you lift some silverware this season, and Levy dramatically changes his wage policy, then I can see that side breaking to pieces next summer. Rose was obviously voicing the views of the dressing room today. They know that they can move elsewhere and earn considerably more money, Walker has already taken it, and Rose is obviously next. Ali, Kane, Lloris and Toby surely follow unless Levy adapts to the current market, and quickly.

I think the model that we are keen to adopt is Arsenal's model of a decade ago, which had an emphasis on youth and bringing young players through our academy. That's why the combination of (a) our new academy, (b) our new stadium, and (c) Poch is so very important to us.

I have said it before, but the best signing we have ever made is Poch, and he is the one that we need to keep.
Unfortunately that won't happen as he also will want more money and a chance to become a winner with another club.

But pay much less...

That serves only to emphasise just how great 'Pool's failing have been.

...therein lies the problem, especially now players are speaking up without permission.

One player has spoke out without permission.

Let us all keep this in its proper perspective.

We don't know what's gone on between Rose and the club, but it is clear that something must have happened.

I suspect that Rose, in coming back to fitness, has pushed the club for a new contract, and the club has told him that it will wait to see how he integrates back into the squad. That's probably bruised his ego and he's lashed out and is trying to force the club's hand.

Would I want to see Rose go? No, of course not.

Is he indispensable? Clearly not, as we saw last season.

Will Spurs fold if Rose leaves the club? Please, don't force me to post a sarcastic library image of a woman laughing in your face.

I can see Barkley turning them down after Rose's rant today.

We were ever really in for Barkley?

If the lad thinks he's going to command £150k a week, then I very much think not.

I was using Everton to compare us with as they were one of the three clubs just behind Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal during my lifetime. we've fought our way back to near the top of the table much better than them. Trophies get divided amongst the top six clubs pretty much every year theses days with the ones with the deepest squads having the advantage and the odd 'black swan' winning something. They are an eventual outcome from a successful strategy not a measure of success along the way.

Spurs in a nutshell ladies and gents.

You didn't quote me in full, Tel.

Admittedly, it's a wum tactic that I have used myself on several occasions, albeit to far greater devastating effect. I'm not going to lambast you for it, for that very reason.

But still...

Barkley will leave before the end of the season. Any potential buyers are waiting it out to try and get him at the best price.

Personally, I'm not bothered. He's a good player, but doesn't seem very bright and his attitude and application seem to leave a lot to be desired.

The game is all about winning pots, and Spurs haven't won any with this side.

Players like 2 things - winning medals and cash.

The current Spurs is not going to hang on to their top stars if they don't sort out both of those things, it's a simple footballing fact.

Anyone who thinks this is primarily for money, that is not the case. But I know what I am worth.
As with everyone else in my team, in my opinion, I am worth more than I am getting - Danny Rose

@PISKIE another 3 points here please mate <laugh>

Yeah, so what?

All that Rose is saying there is that in his opinion the other players in the team are worth more than Spurs is paying them!

That's hardly a major revelation, is it!

Rose's comments are a little confused. On the one hand he says it's not about money, but then in the very next breath he says he knows what he's worth! The entire interview has something of "sour grapes" about it.

I reckon he's been told that there is no guaranteed start for him, when he comes back from injury, and he's blowing off steam to the press.

Bad move, Mr Rose. Your days in at Spurs are coming to an end.

Firstly he contradicts himself in one sentence. 'Anyone who thinks this is primarily about money, that's not the case'. - 'I know what I'm worth'.

Yeah, rightho, Danny. Of course we believe you.

Secondly, perhaps we should pay him what somebody who hasn't worked for seven months is 'worth'?
