As you said, pre-season only counts for HIAG when Spurs win or Arsenal or Chelsea lose.
When the Spuds get their arses handed to them, it somehow doesn't mean so much after all <laugh>

I think a bonus system could have been very effective for Spurs, but it's a risk for there top talent with the new stadium. Wembley and settling in to a new stadium can go 1 of 2 ways, with most thinking how it affected Arsenal and to some degree West Ham. Your top boys agents are likely to be pessimistic and be advising these players that they could be missing out on millions.

Called it a while ago, but this is the beginning of unrest at Spurs over wages. Danny Rose in a frank interview saying that he is not paid what he is worth at Spurs

"One thing is for sure — I know my worth and I will make sure I get what I am worth"

He also goes on to criticise the whole Spurs wage structure:

“As with everyone else in my team, in my opinion, I am worth more than I am getting"

Spurs players will be looking at other clubs and what they can earn elsewhere and will either demand parity with wages at Spurs, or move on to clubs where they can earn those sums and win trophies.

“Time is running out and I do want to win trophies. I don’t want to play football for 15 years and not have one trophy or one medal"

I will say this too — I will play up north. I don’t know exactly when, but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere"

Rose says he's not demanding a move away from Spurs, but it sounds very much as though he is agitating for a move to either Utd or City ?

Anyway, in a rare moment of clarity @Hoddle Is A God has called this right when he admitted yesterday that Danny Rose 'Clearly wants out'

Always said this would be a problem eventually.
Spurs are not competitive, wage wise, with the rest of the top 6, even Liverpool.
I think Kane and Alli have one more season there, in which they will win nothing, before they realise they can triple their salaries elsewhere.

Kane is on like 85k a week or something!!
And Alli closer to 50k a week.

Kane would command a 300k a week wage at United, City, Chelsea or one of the Big European Clubs.
Of course he may go back home to Arsenal :p Just to annoy the Spurs fans

I think you'll find that's a typical Sun version of what was actually said.

    Exactly.

In some ways, it's been to Spurs' credit that they've managed to keep a team together on such small wages, but if they want to compete then that is unrealistic in the long term.

Players like Alli, Kane, Erikson, Vertonghen etc will see that their peers are earning triple what they do and have much better prospects of winning trophies elsewhere.

Danny Rose is simply voicing what others at Spurs must be thinking.

How can it be a 'Sun version' ? They are Danny Rose's direct comments.

Have you actually read the article ?

“I’m not saying I want out, but if something came to me that was concrete, I’d have no qualms about voicing my opinions to anyone at the club.”

    Yes, here's some of it.

Rose added that he "will play up north" as he wants to be closer to his family. He also said that while he isn't actively looking for a move "if something came to me that was concrete, I'd have no qualms about voicing my opinions to anyone at the club."

He says he's not actively looking. Far from what The Sun tries to suggest.

And yes, he's from the North. And 'one day' he'd like to go back.

I'm sure he'll be questioned about this both by teammates and club. So I think we haven't heard the last of it.

The Sun isn't trying to suggest that he's actively looking for a move. Danny Rose's own comments suggest that.

He's been out a long time. I think he needs to get match fit and start playing regularly before he starts mouthing off about what he's going to do!

Okay so you admit that this is Danny Rose and not a 'Sun Version' of events then ?

Tbh, I think he's probably just voicing what a lot of Spurs players are thinking with regard to wages.

  16. Rose is going nowhere.

The thing I love best about Levy is that he'll tie these lads up on long contracts at low wages, and then make sure the ****ers do what they are told.

It seems to be working, and so I don't see anything changing any time soon.

It's a carefully selected and edited version of what was probably said.

I'd expect nothing less from that rag. Out of context is their middle name!

I think many of us on here predicted that once the first one left the rest would fall like a house of cards.

It's just modern football, nobody was gloating (much) we were just saying what happens when clubs try to deviate from the blueprint of the modern footballer's career.

Rose is leaving, make no mistake about it.

Now would be a good time for those of you who say you're not a selling club, to state that you'll only sell him if you want to sell him and he isn't needed.

He'll come here and you'll get Shaw in return and Shaw is the better left back, fix him up good and you'll have mugged us.

    What a gent!
All it will do is turn players off signing for Spurs when they see how players are treated.
I guess that's less of a problem for Spurs since they hardly sign anyone decent, most of their best players are academy graduates.

    No it doesn't.

Walker has left and Rose is unsettled, Alderweireld keeps piping up about his contract too.

These are body blows, the head comes clean off if Alli or Kane start to smell the Benjamins.
