Good luck, me old loves and good luck The Squire to boot. Field now reduced to 14 but Paddy Power still paying 4 places on the heat (albeit at 1/5 the odds) at the time of writing. Been tipping it down locally and that the reason why Bath has currently got 25 non-runners! Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh Mother Nature, you cruel mistress!
It must be summer, it's raining! 100 non-runners across the cards so far, according to RP. Just a few days ago I was sitting in 30+ degree heat in Menorca, seems I missed quite a Saturday, eh? Not much to inspire me today, so I'm sticking with SDS at Brighton in a little speculative treble with Spare Parts (5.20), Eugenic (2.50) and Al Ozzdi (2.20). I'm also hoping for a strong outsider performance from Cadmium in the 3.10 at Pontefract, e/w pennies. Good Luck with Squire chaps.
Funny how things can turn so quickly. Not long ago Davy Russel was almost the forgotten man of racing following his sacking from Gigginstown, then a few injuries and now he's the go to man in racing again. Always been a fan of his and hope his success continues. Very knowledgeable jockey, just don't ask his opinion in front of the public! You likely won't get it served straight.
Pretty lousy day all round today, The Moore good thing ran a stinker in the seller and then he won our race. He was stood next to me during the race and was delighted with the win. Squire was poor and I am starting to have concerns about him. For the first time ever today he was first off the bridle in his race. He usually travels much stronger than that. The debrief with Beschizza was long and full of excuses, nothing he could have done of course. He said that Squire didnt like the track, he didnt like the road crossing, he didnt like the seaside etc etc. Most annoyingly he now seems to settle like an absolute dream. He also doesnt appear to have any breathing issues. So why is he not progressing instead of regressing. I dont suppose anything will manifest itself in the coming days but I would almost be happier if it did. One thing is for sure, next time he runs it will be a flat galloping track and not a quirky racecourse. Sorry for those of you who backed him today, you didnt even get a proper run for your money. Worse was to come as Hector Crouch was injured in a fall and replaced on Buzz by Rons favourite jockey, Jim Crowley, who gave him a contender for the worst ride of the season award. How that cock became champion jockey will always be a mystery to me. The day couldnt get any worse but yes it did. My second biggest bet of the day was on De Vegas Kid, oh dear oh dear. Then to make matters worse we had a 3.1/2 hour journey home that was all stop and no start.
Literally absolutely anything could win this next race at Kempton so I've gone for two ew and reverse forecast Lonely The Brave 16/1 Desert Grey 14/1
Hard lines Stick. At least I ensured yours finished in front of my pick. Was the ground good to firm as advertised? Looked very cut up around the finish line and the kickback looked like it was a sand track.
All that kickback was sand that the Clerk Of The Course had put down due to worries over the firmness of the ground. Amazing as it may seem we had no rain at the track and yet six miles up the road it was teeming down!
Sounds like a frustrating day for you but thanks for sharing your views. As far as squire is concerned he's always remained competitive , maybe a drop in the weights might help.
