Very good point! Also we can keep in mind that Leonid has excellent experience working with swedish players in CSKA (Rasmus Elm - deep lying playmaker and set piece taker until his unlucky health troubles he was brilliant, Pontus Wernbloom - destroyer and ref-press machine till now).

Really? Has the art of the rhetorical question been lost to journalism?

On many an occasion programmes challenge the position, statements and ethos of all sorts of organisations, despite the organisation refusing to accept an invìtation to put their point of view. An invitation is made, it's declined and they continue to do their job.

Exactly, they are exercising professional discretion for as long as it suits their own agenda - it's got nothing to do with them not being able to ask them the (telling) questions; that's utter nonsense.

You seem to be completely missing the point.

For someone to challenge Ehab Allam directly for the things he's said, Ehab Allam has to be involved, otherwise he's not being challenged, he's just being criticised. That was the point Lincoln was making.

You are slightly twisting my point actually and I'm rather too busy to get into any debate right now. However, I'll just say this. Ehab may see it as in his commercial interests but a continued disregard for the feelings of many customers and those who love the club will inevitably work against this. That includes poor information exchange and a lack of honesty. I think OLM touched on this the other day to some extent. Cheers!

I take your point that he needs to make himself available for a direct 1-on-1 challenge (I haven't doubted that, it seems obvious) but he has a PRComms team (however ineffectual and voiceless) who represent him and his policies; that is the conduit through which to 'ask him the questions', even rhetorical ones.

Whether or not he answers with truthful words, lies or not at all has not changed since RH did the commentaries - which is what I thought was the focus of Lincoln's point. Have I got that wrong?

Would be a very very very good signing! Still think it's a bit of a dream though

There is no conduit, nobody else at the club speaks to the press either, we have a Communications Manager who's been in the job eight months and I don't believe he's ever done an interview with anyone.

I believe Lincoln's point was simply that you can't challenge Ehab on the things he says and does, if he simply refuses to interact.

No. No need for the inserted word 'directly'. Ehab can, and of course should, be challenged. And it's not criticism, it's challenging him on the lies, the half truths, the broken promises. How or whether he chooses to respond is a different matter. But the media, particularly the local media, should do their friggin job. Instead they continue to let their reader/listenership down spectacularly

Burnsy's fairly mind criticism of the owners has already seen him blacklisted by the club. The local media need access to the club, whatever they think privately, they're not going to go on the attack, they have a lot to lose and absolutely nothing to gain from it.

If I have misunderstood you then of course I will apologise; but I thought what you wrote was quite clear. Let me see if I understand you:

I took from this you were referring to your point of ' media bullying' by the Allams. You seem to be asking a rhetorical question and saying the press (even Sutty from the YP) will not want to further compromise their Allam relationship by putting them on the spot. I believe that's a fair reading

I said they shouldn't compromise their journalistic integrity; after all the man is a proven liar and fool, what's the point.

But you have said i am twisting your point and I dont believe I am; you are twisting my point (not really - I'll allow you misunderstood it).

I said I thought RH and YP would refrain from challenging the club (Allam) as long as it served their commercial interests, it was you would then wrote about Allam's commercial intetest.

I think you know I am aware of the pointlessness of the club's PRComm team, as I have been constantly bemused by the pointlessness of ticking their Supporter Committee box.

I understood Lincoln's point and I disagreed. I don't believe a journalist must have a 1-2-1 (of any sort) to challenge the nonsense Ehab inflicts on everyone. It would be better, but not essential.

My Bristol City friends tell me that we've made an offer for Aden Flint, where we are in competition with Birmingham, and Joe Bryant. Both City regulars last season, who would certainly bolster our defence.

Goal scoring centre half and a really decent left back. I'd be happy with both.

New Hull City signing had ‘signed’ initial agreement with other club, including €15m release clause
    By Tom Coast -

    9th August 2017

Apologies if previously posted, just seen this.....

Very recently announced as Hull City’s latest signing of the summer transfer window, the decision to sign for Leonard Slutsky’s side appears to have been a last minute, even last second, move.

For all intents and purposes, the Sweden international should have been a Levante player this summer, having agreed to a €15m release clause the La Liga side.

This is what Super Deporte are claiming on Wednesday, stating they have managed to get hold of an extract of this initial agreement, which apparently has ‘full validity as a contract that binds the parties and especially the player as a professional footballer’.

However, without the signature of the official contract and the signature of La Liga officials, the move was never completed.

Thankfully for Larsson, it seems that Levante aren’t all that mad about the whole thing, as Super Deporte explain the Valencia based outfit ‘will not make a legal claim’.

The reason behind this is that, despite Larsson having passed a medical, Levante had a feeling the player would snub them for over a week, despite his agent’s assurances his client preferred La Liga.

It seems Hull City have pulled off quite a coup here by bringing him to KCOM Stadium, signing the former Sunderland player on a one-year deal on Wednesday.

Maybe if we get him, then we could be three players from finalising our Hull City jigsaw? Yes I know we've spent diddly squat but perhaps Ehow only thinks you spend money in the last day or two of the transfer window.

The Birmingham Mail seem very confident that he's on the way there...

Birmingham City target Aden Flint is edging closer to leaving Bristol City with a deal to be completed this week.

Our sister title the Bristol Post reports that sources close to the player have revealed that Flint will switch clubs in the next few days.

They report that the Robins have not accepted a bid for the defender, but negotiations have been ongoing and a fee is set to be agreed.

Flint was left out of City's starting eleven in their win against FC Twente on Friday night, coming on at half-time with Harry Redknapp watching in the stands at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City have rejected "two solo bids" for Aden Flint from Championship rivals Birmingham City.
