He did, but compare the banners at the top of each thread, and see which team comes first in the breadcrumbs.
If you didn't just look at what the media show of Sir Alex you would see that he does have dignity in both victory and defeat. Try listening to what his fellow professionals say, you'll realise that he has a lot more grace than is protrayed by the media. He often congratulates his opponents when they have beaten his side but this normally gets overlooked by rival fans and sections of the media who only concentrate on the times when he is ungracious. He also offers help and support to rival players and managers, and is involved in a lot of charity work. I get sick of people saying he has no grace etc because of what they see in the media.
I don't think that article would make KPR's blood boil - he's actually compared Shankly to SAF on many an occasion. Although he usually follows it up by trying to claim Paisley is better than both of them!
Part of what you say may be true, but as I don't know the man personally I have nothing to go on other than his media portrayal. But I do go on what I see from him, not on what others say of him. Anyway, I'm sure that if he'd been the Liverpool manager for the last 25 years we would both be saying the opposite of what we're saying now.
You can find examples in the media of him being gracious if you look hard enough. Unfortunately these tend to get overlooked by a lot of rival fans. Last season we lost 4 league games and the only time I remember him being ungracious was after our defeat to Chelsea. On the other ocassions he congratulated the opposition.
Fair enough, I'll keep an eye out. Tbh I don't think any of us LFC fans would give a stuff about him if it weren't for the fact that he's your manager and the bastard keeps winning the sodding league.
Ofcourse. I'd probably hate Wenger less if he hadn't done so much for Arsenal. Mind you the way things are going there at the moment I'm starting to like him
I don't think KPR will REALLY care about the comparison, alot of what he says is just made up to get a rise out of United fans. It doesn't bother me what he says about SAF, but what he says about the Doc gets my goat up tunns lurves the Doc
SHANKLEY would go and watch everton hey, looks like that drawing the curtains quote was tongue and cheek
Berb. I have a mate who is the Liverpool reporter for a rag. He is also a die-hard man u supporter. He has met ferguson on a number of occasions and tells me he's a truly horrible person. This is not made up. It's what he tells me. Make of that what you will.
if i was ferguson i would be pretty annoyed with that comparison, ferguson is the most decorated british manager of all time he is the benchmark that other managers have to beat.
Expat if you read through the whole thread you will see that it has been quite amicable with a bit of banter but no-one looking to get nasty or wind the other set of supporters up, so please don't try and turn the thread into something else.
luvgonzo im not its just an observation some people are trying to compare them, ferguson is uncomparable based on what i said, being the most decorated manager of all time (british), i was surprised to see though that shankley was mis treated by liverpool when he resigned and would then go and watch everton .
Though also capable of inane comments. You can find evidence of Nick Griffin being quite reasonable if you look hard enough. Having to "look hard enough" isn't much of an endorsement. He grudgingly shakes hands. Big woo. The only managers he congratulates are his LMA lapdogs. The big difference between Shanks and Darth Ferg is Shanks' Socialist principles are to the fore in everything he says and does. The Champagne Socialist down the road has long since left his shop steward days behind for the sake of lining his own nest. Oh, and the wit. Fergie has none.
Red Hadron Collider resist what talking of events that did happen? he also went to watch tranmere too thats not a bad thing, just watching football isnt a bad thing he clearly had lots to offer still but liverpool were taking a new route and it proved successful.
