I stand corrected TLL. We were 2 points behind them.

I dont agree that we aren't competeing with them, you are underselling us. They have finished 7,6,8,7,2,6,8,4 since 2010. Hardly the kind of league placing we could never dream of are they .

And they've built their freaking team out of our squad, again, hardly likely if we werent competing with them.

Not having a pop but this perceived big club status is bullshit until they get a consistent run happening again. They pay higher wages and they've got a little clique of former Saints. Thats their draw. Nobody is going there to win the CL.

 

I don't think I am, we've been close to them twice in seasons where they've massively under performed and we've overachieved. We're never going to be able to compete with a club like that reguarly as the gap financially is simply too big.

In my opinion, we're more likely to get relegated than finish above Liverpool. (not to say that will happen of course!)

 

ok, we will have to disagree, a decade of results says that they aren't that great and I think 8,7,6,5 is potentially doable for us going forwards. Pretty much the same terrain if you ask me.

 

A decade in which they've finished runners up twice and reached a European Cup final?

Whereas in contrast we've finished runners up once in our entire history and have never qualified for the European Cup.

With respect those are not proper stats because the sample it too small - if Saints only ever played four or five seasons then yes it is but as we know they've played a lot more seasons than two, so in my opinion making that statement to prove stats are rubbish is disingenuous.

 

Since coming back up from lower leagues we've played Liverpool 13 times in all competitions

Love the way they always say that we have ruined his dream of moving to Liverpool....no one mentions that he has ruined our dream of having a player honour his contract and want to play for us. Yes, he may not have refused to train, but saying your heart isn't in playing for us is the same....why would the manager want you to train and waste his time?

They are a bunch of lying, scheming, untrustworthy, hypocrites and that is the kindest thing I can say about Liverpool and everyone associated with their corrupt little club.

I have not heard one journalist/pundit (unconnected with Saints) even suggest that Saints should hold firm. And apart from one instance, I can't even remember any expressing sympathy for Saints and their position. It's like what can you expect when you've sold players before. I've sold houses before...it doesn't mean you can come and give me a cheque and throw me out of my home.

 

As well as this, none of them have expressed even the slightest bit of empathy, for example saying "with respect to Southampton" or something of that ilk. It has been completely derogatory and treating us like a misbehaving child. The hypocrisy of that club is ridiculous. It's never their fault.
