Perhaps, and this is pure idle conjecture, they have a Chelsea player lined up and they want a last gasp signing to appease supporters - it's credible after the last gasp failure last year.
He's nothing like as influential as Ashbee. Ash was captain from League 2, he drew inspiration from being a lower league footballer and that's what pushed him on. Hate that comparison. Meyler is the very definition of bang average, he looked it on Saturday against one of the better teams in the division. Given our options in midfield, I don't know why any manager worth his salt would choose him over somebody who is a better footballer. You could pluck any fan from the crowd who's half good at football and they'd give 110% on the pitch, it doesn't mean they'd be a top performer. Sterling in Meyler put down shocker, blah blah blah. Get over it, he's good enough to sit on the bench and come on with 10 minutes to go.
BREAKING: Leeds United & Hull City are both set to make bids for Oxford United star Marvin Johnson. #oufc #lufc #hcafc
Well, personally it's my opinion that anybody who thinks he's better than Clucas, Henriksen, Mason or Evandro is a moron.
Agreed, but he's a totally different type of player, and although he wouldn't be above those on my team sheet he does have an important role to play in the squad
Yeah, yeah he's definitely not as effective as the invisible Evandro, nor does he have the heart of Clucas, Henriksen or Mason.
He is a different type of player, but his purpose should be to get at teams in the last 10 minutes when they're tired, I don't think he's good enough to start.
That Marvin Johnson (Tattoos aside) looks ok. He's a winger that can operate left or right wing and has had according to the papers interest from a lot of clubs - PL clubs. Could be well worth the £2m quoted as his career is on an upward trajectory.
Oh the heart. It's not the Wizard of Oz. It endears him to fans, it does not make him a better technical player. You look at Huddlestone, Livermore et al, players who've done it at the top level. That's what you need. I don't recall them lacking any heart, they were just naturally better at football.
It could be a different player, but there was a Marvin Johnson at Kidderminster a while ago who was supposed to be pretty good. Not the same one?
Just one day before first match Leonid said for russian TV (speaking his native language) that he's absolutely 100% sure about five new signings before transfer window will be closed.
Same one. Ended up at Motherwell then Oxford. Leicester and Liverpool have both had a look at him. He'll tall and quick and scores a few. Be a decent prospect.
