Personally, I will distinguish by the FLGDC and the Lying Dutchman.... I'm sure most will be able to crack the code....!!
Yes he's been very vocal about wanting to stay up here. I'd be very surprised if he signed for us instead. Only City insisting on it could bring that about.
Southampton now regard their transfer business as largely complete and there is still no compromise on a club decision not to sell any key players. Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/...deal-juventus/
They'd better be 100% certain of hanging on to VVD, then. Because a situation where we end up selling him late in the window could be pretty damned difficult. We're also still short of quality at a number of positions, CB included, but I guess we couldn't really expect any sort of serious outlay given our ownership situation.
Well van dick wont be playing for us ever again so in that case we NEED to bring in a defender regardless of what happens with him. Unless Bednerak is classed as his replacement , which I really hope not.
Might loan someone in or add cover, but it suggests we shouldn't expect any more substantial signings.
Lot of speculation about Hoedt, but would he be a good signing? Stephens is only two years younger than Van Dijk but still seems like a squad player despite how much he's improved.
This season will tell a lot about Jack imo. I thought he was a few years younger than what he is but turns 24 this season. Probably make or break for him in terms of first team here.
I'm taking that to mean no major signings....not ruling out ones for the future. Of course an optimist could say largely complete means not really complete.
If we can't make a success out of Jack after the most amazing 12 months, then we will forever be buying players like Gardos and the like. This has to work. He has to start.
Pretty sure Jack is uppermost in the club's mind. They will want him to be given the chance to show what further improvement he has in him. Basic skills are right, character is right....now needs even more experience.
He has taken to the first team like a duck to water, the last academy player that I can recall being so confident and at home was Luke Shaw.
'Amazing' might be overselling it. There's no question that Jack exceeded expectations, but he/Yoshida as a pairing still leaked a lot of goals, and many of those were linked to poor decision-making in central defense. Now, that doesn't mean he won't continue to improve, but he'll never to improve to be an average-or-better PL CB.
