The number of millions the Vatican has just paid to buy Saints? About as dodgy deal as selling to a group of Chinese investors IMO
His news agency does stories like this all the time for the red tops. And the 'writers' for most of the stories you see in these types of papers are given fake names so you never really know who's written them.
My first choice for a new CB would have been McGuire, great performance against us last season as well as a terrific and consistent level of performance all season. He adds leadership to his general quality performance. Can see him making the England squad this year as he has moved to Leicester Gibson had a very useful partnership with Chambers for Boro and proved he could handle the pressure of the Premier League. Bozo's defensive record was pretty good, just couldn't score Would rather have him than Wimmer to be honest
They couldn't score partly because they were busy defending all the time, which made it easier for the cb's. Therefore it hard to tell how Gibson would fare in a more open team
Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund keep tabs on ex-Bayern Munich keeper Lukas Raeder SIMON JONES: Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund are weighing up a move for former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Lukas Raeder. The 6ft 5in German is a free agent and has been training with Southampton but has failed to agree terms with the south coast club. The 23-year-old, who was deputy to Manuel Neuer and won the FIFA Club World Cup with the Bundesliga giants in 2013, has had two spells working with Southampton over a 10 day period this summer and they were open to offering him a deal to increase competition for Fraser Forster. | DailyMail
Seeing as McCarthy has disapeared off the face of the earth again, Gazza is on his way out ... leaves Forster and, um, Stuart Taylor.
What does that mean for McCarthy? His tenure with us has been very strange. I really thought when we signed him that we would be in the best position with GKs since the Niemi/Jones days.
He picked up an innocuous injury that players usually get over very quickly, and yet he was out for most of the season. He seemingly was fine for the first part of pre-season, and then rumoured to pick up a sickness bug and now he's out presumably long term again if we're looking at GKs again. It just all seems quite strange to me.
I might've missed the point/missed a joke, but I'm sure someone (possibly DTLW-apologies if it wasn't) mentioned that one of our keepers was struggling with osteo-arthritis related symptoms... I assumed if true it was Taylor as he's over the age of 35, possibly this.....???
No jokes meant by me, I genuinely have been confused by the goings on with McCarthy. And this is the first I have heard of one of our keepers suffering from Osteoarthritis or the like. If that's the case, it would make a lot of sense.
