Perfect signing great right foot lots of experience just what you need in this league .. type of player Bruce signs in the championship and his record isn't bad
Hope he does well for us, but he's not a good signing. He's not what we need, and it's yet another sign of Ehab taking the absolute piss out of us fans (a free).
If its a 1 year deal it'll be an ok signing. Purely for the fact he takes decent set pieces. I cant think of another reason why we'd need another CM. Who's the Chelsea winger? Boga, Musonda, Kenedy?
People complain that we don't have enough players, then when we sign someone they still complain. We are a championship team now without a big budget.
We'd have a budget if we didn't spend it all on central midfielders and keepers though. I'm happy enough with Larsson but it's pretty weird that we're signing yet another centre mid while we've got big shortages in every other outfield position.
Well as Stewart got injured before our first game and we had to slot hendo in there who was gash maybe we need it? We could have been blown away by half time. So Ye it makes sense to me.
This is one for experience having lost most of it. On Saturday I think we had 7 players under 23. If we'd kept Huddlestone, then this probably wouldn't happen. He's got promotion from this league before. Played 8-9 consecutive seasons in the PL. played at World Cups, decent set piece taker. For free - absolute no brainier. Free up all our budget for a prolific striker
So long as we are not paying silly wages, Larsson on a free is a sensible acquisition. A bench player with a wealth of experience. We generally like to keep one or two of those on the books.
Okay, I'll give you that, he brings experience with him. He will bring his sloppy play, erratic form and rocking chair, too. He was okay as a RW, but he had to move to CM which highlighted his frailties. Even as a free he is taking the squad place of a position we need bolstering. Attack and defence are the priorities, he's neither. Taking him on a free and being happy about it is like giving in to the notion we don't have money to spend. We do, but it seems it is acceptable to scrimp and save.
Aye, I know what you mean and your tongue-in-cheek post does raise it's own doubts. I always liked Ryan Taylor, a good utility player (more so than Larsson who is restricted) , I defended him on here, but, except for one or two decent shows, out of just a few opportunities, his contribution failed to live up to my expectation - I accepted that. I will be happy to be just as wrong on Larsson. The principle that he is a 'free' is flawed, though.
He brings in the experience we lost when we lost/sold Huddlestone/Maloney/Davies. Been on the RTG Sunderland site - most would have kept him. We're at Championship level now. As a freebie- excellent signing. They are hopefully working on the other positions we need filling.
