Devil's Advocate for a second:

When VVD signed his new contract, there could have been an unwritten agreement that we would sell him on to a top 4 club if and when they came in with a reasonable offer during the contract period. The 6 year agreement may have just been an agreement to try to make the transfer fee as high as possible (good for Saints, good for agents taking % comission.....).

However three things then happened:

a) the injury. Suddenly we feel we have not got anywhere near our money's worth out of VVD new contract.

b) Liverpool - both them making the top 4 and the Blackpool trip.

c) The top teams now all seem to love 3 at the back - VVD suddenly fits in far better into their setups than it would have appeared 12 months ago.


No basis for these thoughts, just my late night ramblings

Jeez. All the ignored posts made reading this thread very strange. Van Dijk being badly treated, Saints fans bickering, scousers reacting to being abused.....

Bollox to you all. You could have waited for me before starting the fun!

 

The main thing we should learn from this is to give players release clauses when they sign deals that we are happy with. Would stop transfer sagas going on all summer and we get a fee we are happy with

 

One was seen on a roundabout in Northampton recently iirc...

 

Wasn't it Chilworth? Or maybe Letchworth? I'm not sure, so clutching at straws here.

Appreciate it was two whole months ago now, but a reminder to the Liverpool supporters about their official position in regards to Van Dijk.

It's the equivalent of "I'm being shut down" or "everyone here is precious" just because someone has the temerity to disagree with a point.

As Vin said, people aren't referring to Hillsborough, and using that as an automatic response/discussion closer to being told there's that kind of mentality is ridiculous.

I dont think ANY football fan would make a comment over 96 innocent people who went to a football match and never came home. Its about time that Liverpool fans stopped thinking that we would.

99.999999999999999% of fans are behind you for the 96 and want justice - it is those 96 that gave us our safe, comfy all seater stadia nowadays.

We can, however disagree with you over football matters and think that your club has turned into a bit of a joke.
