Previous post was referring to a Liverpool fan tweet about how it was Southampton that were toxic and not Liverpool. It's a victim mentality that has been adopted by many Liverpool fans. Not all I'll admit, but it's very prevalent. As always when I make this comment I will also say it has nothing to do with Hillsborough.

 

This was always coming. No surprises here. He's a twat who signed a 6 year contract 12 months ago who has been tapped up a twat club, full of twats. The worst thing we could do for us and for football would be to let them have their way.

We need less twat mass in general, spread them about a bit so they dont stink the world up so much.

 

well that explanation would have worked so much better without the "victim" comment.

Well apologies if you got offended, but I'm sick of hearing how Liverpool have done nothing wrong in all of this and Southampton are the ones acting nastily. I'm not saying you personally have said anything of the sort, but I mean Liverpool fans in general. This arrogant "it's not our fault, the others are being meanies" stance. Yes the victim tag has some previous bad connotations but as i've previously said I never ever mean it in relation to the tragedies. If you're offended then sorry but this mindset of some fans grinds me gears.

So why has it taken him til now to finally put in a transfer request? And doesn't that invalidate everything in his statement?

This is how football is now though, and there's little point fantasising about us making a heroic stand on behalf of the beautiful game. As fans we have two options; accept it, or turn our backs on it. And my season ticket just arrived in the post.

 

The way that agents and some players behave absolutely disgust me, but football has only itself to blame. Its all about money and at some stage it might well implode. Unfortunately, VVD hasn't been badly advised as he will get a better paid job and probably enjoy more success than he will ever get here.

We all want to think that our players love their club as much as the fans do, but to us its not a job, we won't change our clubs, we will go through the ups and downs and the downs and ups. To a player its a job, a well paid job, but why should they be loyal. All we can hope for is that when they play for us, they play well and are committed, but when they go we get a really good price for them. Don't forget most of the players that we've sold, we purchased them from another club in the first place. VVD has acted badly though, taken pay rises and been paid when injured and then shown complete lack of loyalty

 

If the Van Dijk money was reinvested into a couple of top signings then I'm sure the board would win back most fans that would be pissed if Van Dijk is sold.

 

And there actually wasnt a victim comment...but well played.

Appreciated. At the end of the day this is just football and you'd have to be pretty sick to make fun of a tragedy where normal fans went to game and never came back.

It just really irks me how some Liverpool fans think they are utterly blameless.

 

Have we got time that's the question? I hope Les has planned for this. I hope VVD goes for ridiculous money but not if it's Liverpool. I would rather keep him.
