I have always said that once Liverpool apologised, Southampton took it no further because you have to live with the 19 other teams in the league. Why carry on when you have achieved what you want....and pretty easily.

I believe club policy is to try and use incoming to fund both fee and contracts of new players as a way to ensure what happened before never happens again (I am sure I read that somewhere a while back)

Well lots of vitriol.. I for one am just sad for a whole host of reasons..
Sad because football is a business not a sport.
Sad because the whole melodrama has been acted out in code until today.
Sad because we again start a new season without our best player.
But really sad that the player with the most potential since MLT is leaving. Make no mistake VVD can play at the highest level. That he thinks he cant do that here is accurate.

Not sure you understand the whole issue about Liverpool being able or not being able to make a bid mate. Have a read up about it

 

I'm not sure letting him go for x amount (lower than what's been reported for Liverpool) is good business sense either. It looked as though up until today you held all the aces, but the transfer request has changed that dynamic.
