Whilst obviously there are better defenders out there than we have whilst we use our current system they will always be vulnerable and therefore look worse than they would with a more defensive set up i.e. compare Sakhos performance for Palace to his for LFC.

 

Because despite the fact he has more money than most of us could dream of and enough to see him and his family comfortable for the rest of his days, it's not enough apparently.

 

If he really wanted Liverpool above all else, he would hand in his notice. I know it's a sizeable amount of money...but he's in the wrong...just doesn't deserve a bonus. In the end, I suspect he doesn't love Liverpool as much as the fans would like to believe....he fancies it, but would also fancy somewhere else for the right money. But yeah, if you're going to play the high press, you are going to leave your CBs exposed. Spurs (who have the 2 best CBs in the PL imo) managed that pretty well last season, ironically until they met you lot and left space for Mane to run into and rip them apart.

 

Sakho for us was a bit hit & miss , though quite a few on our board were convinced he was our best defender, with a particular failing of stepping out into no mans land to challenge for aerial balls he could never win .In doing so he left a big hole for the opposition to exploit. That fault may well have been due to the lck of midfield cover.

Spurs play with at least 1 DM we don't bother with that sort of boring stuff . In fact if we keep Coutinho we will be even more attacking this year ,by the looks of it, as we expect him to play in MF instead of left forward.

 

If only. His loyalty bonus is over £23million. That's what sticks in my gut. It's pretty much the sole motivation for footballers these days. Look at Mane - he gave up European football to go to Liverpool last year. Only one motivation left.

 

I know that. My thought was that there are other ways to prove lack of loyalty. And I know that makes no difference as well. It just that as it stands it makes a mockery of the term loyalty.
