Your view of course, and fair play to you Happy, but there were quite a number of interviews where Brucey, Phelan and Silva became very clearly annoyed/frustrated with very challenging questions from Burnsy about team performance/squad etc related to the club's direction. They were questions that, to be fair, nearly all of us on here wanted answers to. Some of these questions should have been answered by the Chairman (or more obviously and fairly given Assam's illness) the vice chairman Ehab. You might not like Burnsy, but that is irrelevant. He fairly tried to ascertain what was going on last summer re lack of players etc at times you could feel Phelan's pain. The fact still remains Ehab wouldn't talk to them and so what other channels would you have gone through other than the manager? Humberside's Matt Dean and Mike White repeatedly put the call in (privately and publicly) for an interview in order to give Ehab a platform, or if you like an opportunity for him to explain what was happening. At the end of the day, you cannot force anyone to be interviewed and it's Ehab/the club's right to stay silent if they wish. Regardless, Dean and White are reasonably good experienced sports journalists not ranting nutters, and they do the job with Scunny and Grimsby including asking the hard questions when required. If Ehab had taken up this opportunity he could have effectively sidestepped Burnsy and/or put stuff to bed for the season. Scunny's Peter Swan and Grimsby's John Fenty put themselves up a couple of times a season and I simply can't understand why Ehab doesn't. It really doesn't make sense from a PR point of view as an awful lot of stuff could have been cleared up leaving Burnsy to get on with game matters.
Drift spent a long time fighting Assem's corner, he's a bit slow on the uptake, things moved on, Driff will probably notice next year.
FFS. Okay, whatever. I don't need the bold text to understand anything. My words were plain and uncomplicated. The bullshit on here has been speculative and divisive. Too many experts and I'm sure you know the witty definition of one of those. Not interested in any further argument with you or anyone else; Lincoln Tiger's ITK post burst one or two bubbles of opinion; and he doesn't have the full explanation. Time to wait for the next episode. Good night.
Local stations often fall out with football clubs. Grimsby Town have refused access to RH in the past, and just last season Mike White was made a scapegoat for Scunny's poor form at the end of the season by raising some awkward questions about players contracts. It's a fine balance - keeping both fans and club happy alike.
Of course, and in some senses sometimes a little venting isn't a bad thing. However, both Fenty and Swan have willingly given interviews since and more than once. They are without doubt a little less thin-skinned than Ehab. Also, in Mike White's case I am pretty sure it was the manager not the chairman who blamed Mike. Do you remember the rant at John Tondur from the then Grimsby joint manager Paul Scott live on air? Priceless...
Grimsby seem to fall out with media people on a regular basis, there's currently a spat going on with the Cleethorpes Chronicle.
