If you put up an article and you gave it your usual boolish confidence, as many including myself have done, and the horse was well beaten. Yeah you'd get some stick, but that is to be expected.

If the horse won though, people would be like fair play and give you the credit you deserved for it. No one would keep having a pop at you after a 33/1 winner.

Having a big price winner doesn't meen you are immune from criticism for ever though.

Every poster has had their day in the sun, where they've been on fire, including you Eddie<laugh>

That doesn't mean no one should question their opinions ever again.

<laugh> I particularly like the wonderful character right out of a Charles Dickens story, one Sir Michael Stoute. It is so obvious that he just hates being interviewed by the media, and seems to have a particular aversion to the sometimes over-ebullient ITV lads. It is better for ITV to always have him interviewed by one of their attractive ladies, who seem to be at their charming best with him. Even then, it's a bit of a trial for this colonial/Barbadian /Dickens character. For me? I really like Sir Michael, as he can be almost as grumpy as me sometimes. :emoticon-0100-smile

First time on my laptop since I went off to a wedding yesterday. Had to look at this thread first and not quite what I was expecting. I don't bet but I passed the post onto my son to have a small bet. However, he is unable to bet whilst he's over here.

My wife was furious because I didn't back it, even though (a) I don't bet and (b) I have no means of placing a bet anyway <laugh>

Anyway, thanks for sharing, Chelsea. I think you have made a lot of people happy <cheers> <applause><applause><applause>

My wife hides the money, so I couldn't back it. And I've convinced myself I feel all the better for it anyway.

Yep, my wife always says think of the averages. However, 50/1s, 25/1s, sure help the averages? :emoticon-0112-wonde

I hope this was you Chelsea <cheers>

One lucky Sky Bet punter was celebrating after landing a remarkable treble on day five of Glorious Goodwood on Saturday.

On a fairly difficult week in general for punters at the Qatar Goodwood Festival, wins for Scorching Heat, Soldier In Action and Lancelot Du Lac on Saturday triggered a payout in excess of £90,000 after one punter placed a win treble on the three horses.

Scorching Heat made light work of the opening Stewards' Cup consolation race and Soldier In Action knuckled down well under a big weight to land the Qatar Summer Handicap so hopes were pinned on Frankie Dettori delivering Lancelot Du Lac in the Stewards' Cup itself.

Dean Ivory's experienced sprinter wasn't to be denied and completed the third leg of the £30 treble, with the speculative wager returning £90,480.

Just this minute purchased my tickets for all four days of the Cheltenham Festival. It feels like I got them for nothing. Thank you Chelsea, Lancelot, Deano and Frankie :emoticon-0148-yes:

Well it wasn't the mortgage but I won a shed load of money that I wouldn't have without the guy putting it up. I think many others did too.
I don't see your problem with people showing their appreciation.
You don't have to look at this thread you can and obviously should simply ignore it!

(amazed I got that posted without resorting to foul language)

You don't need the mortgage on @ 33/1 to show a decent profit <laugh>
It's obvious from the replies who backed it and who didn't <wah>

I'm happy to be in the I-backed-it camp :)

I also don't get why some are deriding both Chelsea and the congratulators. Sour grapes I expect.

The shower of criticism from Boris of Der Kaiser Chefs, smacks of someone who didn't follow the recipe <laugh>
