Article mostly stating the obvious but still interesting. Common wine blunders you should really avoid in France - The Local
I like the end bit about the French completely ignoring their own etiquette rules if it suits them !!
You can always tell the Brits in a French restaurant. They will make sure that nothing is left in a bottle on the table, whereas other nationalities will drink the appropriate wine with each course, and leave behind what they didn't drink.
I'm by no stretch of anyone's imagination a wine connoisseur - being more in the category of 'it it tastes good, I like it' - but have to say that I've never tasted a bad NZ wine. I'm particularly fond of their whites & if this scandal includes my favourites, what the heck - as long as they are still to my taste I'll buy them. As the old saying goes, whatever floats your boat - and I have certainly tried some expensive French, Italian and Spanish wines that taste as though they've have had boats floating in them.
My next door neighbour has a family member who produces Chateau quality fine wines, and gives him some bottles from time to time. When lucky enough to have some it is so different from my normal supplies. Smooth, fruity, and lovely colour it is, but it retails for about €45-50 a bottle which is not what I pay for a glass or two with my dinner.
Good morning all from a warm and dry Weston-super-Mare! Rain arriving by 0900 for most of the day! Have a good day!
Good morning Brian, I think our result at Fulham on Saturday bodes well. Fulham have been our bogey team for decades now so to come away with a point with seven players making their debut is a big positive. Bring it on!
Morning all, bright and sunny still, but temperatures only around 28°C, so it is good to be outside. At 8.00 am the phone rang, so thought it was probably my daughter as the sales calls do not usually start until midday. Today it was a young lady almost breathless with excitement telling me that she had some holidays still available at prices I would find unbelievable providing I was free to go this weekend. Standard reply when I want to get rid of them is that I do not understand what they are talking about, and the conversation ends with the caller apologizing for disturbing me. One day someone will have an English script to hand and I will have to think of something different.
I've reached the stage where I say nothing and just hang up - or, if the number display says 'withheld', I don't even bother picking up the phone & just let it go to the answering machine.
Man at the meteo forecast rain would arrive at 5.00 pm. I think his radar must have picked up a swarm of gnats.
MATCH THREADS. They often provide a point for discussion for a couple of days before a game, and updates for those who are not able to go to games. Mex and myself put something up for each game last season and would like a bit of a break. Any offers, they do not have to be too fancy, just a case of gathering information from different sources. Thanks in advance for all the offers!
Morning all, looks like we had a little rain overnight, but I don't think it was great deal. Good news if you are in the IT business here with companies in the field showing very good growth and profits. It seems that national companies have taken much work from Indian ones who have started to leave. The flow of labour around the world seems to be gathering pace as the Indians will move elsewhere.
There won't be too many to do this season - according to this Swansea away on 23rd September will be our last match. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/15459028.amp/
