I don't even remember him tbh. Thought that season coincided with me having a pretty bad drink problem and being homeless so hardly suprising...
It strikes me that the club are nervous about the reaction of the fans to a very quiet summer transfer window hence the release of this message
Mauricio is saying that you can't expect everything to fall into place overnight and the team need the fans' support. No darker message than that.
Never has first game of the season optimism been torn to pieces so quickly. That was a game I'd rather forget!
People complained about him not smiling when he came here but he does seem to have a good sense of humour.
It may be just an impression from years of intense suffering, but am I right in thinking that we usually do poorly on the first day of the season?
He did seem to be on the fringe* at training initially, but I think that was probably a language thing. I don't suppose we'd be able to join in easily if thrown into an Italian-speaking work place. He certainly looks as if he's one of the lads now. *For once not a hair joke.
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-08-07/southampton-cup-day-one-review Update on the Southampton Cup. Kids love these round robin games....great fun and not too long between games. Hope it's a great success....well done to Saints for organising this.
Long interview with MP2. Talks a lot about being a teacher - not just football but also personality and attitude. I can certainly see why we felt he fit the club. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-08-08/mauricio-pellegrino-programme-feature-interview
