And I don't blame you paying someone else to do the outside, it's a pain in the arse!

Sounds like you're doing a great job mate. There's something extremely satisfying about doing an entire house from top to bottom - when you've finished lol. You ought to be proud of yourself, as it's not easy when working full time ffs.

Done it a few times, but it's 10 years since I last did it.

I wouldn't even attempt it mate, and these days I rarely attempt the inside either, as I just can't be arsed.

Cheers mate. Made worse having three kids to watch (mrs works evenings) whilst doing it <laugh>

It certainly dragging, got three or four jobs that need finishing but hit a mental block atm.

I'm off tomorrow and tuesday so should get most of bathroom done.

Will be a long time before I finish completely as the budgets not going to stretch to a new kitchen, will make use of what is there already and just change doors, worktop, etc.

Debate about getting guy in...until 2 years ago it'd have been my uncle.. .but he's the Big A and arthritis now. You can't mention decorating round him or he'll be there when you wake up lol.

    Not many of the local guys I trust....and it's a shame because I'm **** at it...no patience....

Will get a carpet dude in though...i try staying on my knees that long I'll not get back up.

Z...you do the actual refits yourself? I couldn't even begin with that....other than know enough to cut through the dudes I got in bullshit

Refits? I assume you mean carpets?

Yes, ended up doing them myself. Legs and arms knew about it afterwards; three rooms (remove old stuff, install grips, underlay and carpet) in two days. Averaged about 90mins a room, I was impressed with that, thought it would take me longer than that to just fit the carpets!

PS...two days because I did it on a Monday and tuesday evening after being at work. Mrs was at work when I did them, fortunately the youngest went to sleep both days

I'd probably be able to do it on my own but my old man used to buy and sell houses before I was born (he's fitted a fair few since I was born too including my brothers) so he's helping me. Let him do the pipework whilst I basically lump the heavy **** about <laugh>

Edit; yes, we removed it. Was fairly straight forward bar the water flow being a bit awkward

Hate DIY, got someone n to just fit some new flooring in my bathroom.

I've painted most of my rooms, I just need to do the skirting boards before I get someone in to fit some more flooring through rest of the flat. Been meaning to do that for about 3 months and not got round to it... really cba lol.

Always do glossing first. Emulsion wipes of gloss but gloss doesn't wipe off Emulsion <ok>

    Come again? <laugh>

I'm just going to get some sandpaper, sand it down, wipe it clean then get gloss... think that should all work.

You said you'd painted the rooms but still needed to paint skirting boards. You should have done the skirting boards first to make it easier for yourself.

As for sanding, depends what state they're in.

Ah you mean about getting gloss on the already painted walls. Possibly, shouldn't be too bad. Doing them same colour so even if small splatter shouldn't show up but in generally quite neat when painting. Did all the walls fine
