Of the three you have mentioned; Hojberg is still an incomplete project but has good potential; Davis has been a great servent and tireless contributor on and off the pitch but has a limited timeline (2 years maybe?) and Clasie, for me, has never matched his billing.

Mario looks the real deal on YouTube clips that I've watched, but there again so did Steve De Ridder?

But Steve de Ridder never earns a move to one of the biggest teams in the world (even if only as a squad player)

Totally agree on the Clasie front, with space in the 25 man squad so limited, we need to look at who is actually doing a job/has potential and who is just filling a space? I suspect there's a couple in Claisie and Gardos, but I'd even put a couple of first teamers on the border line too unless they start actually doing a job/showing potential.

Hasn't Clasie been consistently linked with Lazio. And there was talk of a Lazio central defender link . Not a swap deal of course by might help negotiations

Alternatively I think players like clasie and PEH will benefit from having a more stable base than just Romeu on his own (assuming Lemina goes through)

Same of course applies to JWP but he played on the right a lot last year

Would give options. But that said things don't look good for Clasie.

Agree on all fronts, Claisie is a very European player that many teams on a par with Saints in other countries would love.

He is about 6-7 inches in height and 1-2 stone away from having a chance of being successful here but would probably be much better in a less physical league.

Strikes me as a transition squad player from the FLGDC days of having no players to work with when pre season started; although it never came off, I suspect Tonny Vilhenna would've gone the same way. Technically astute and Dutch, but not much more.

I disagree about the height and weight issue. What about Kante?

I'm not saying Clasie is the man, just don't think height and weight are the issue.

True, never considered Kante. Kanye seems quicker, more skillfull, and I think to a certain extent he's been used and now labelled by everyone as a bit part player. I'd certainly have no qualms about seeing more of him, but not just for last 5-10 mins.

Twitter can't seem to decide whether he is signing for us, West Ham and Stoke.

I'm still pretty confident if Di Marzio is saying it though.

Saintsweb seem concerned...a few at Stoke seem to think he may sign for them. Hope he's not messing about keeping options open. Let's presume he's signing for us....we don't have many other options....correction: any other options.

If we have all had bids accepted I would assume his preference would probably be West Ham > Saints > Stoke. Most reports I have read have said that it is between us and Stoke so I would imagine we would have the upper hand unless Stoke are offering larger wages

Better to compare ability to read the game, concentration and acceleration and stamina. Clasie lacks in some of those areas whilst Kanté we know excels.

I've read the Stoke forum and their feelimgs aren't particularly backed up by reports. The West Ham rumour has come from a fan account and seems to have snowballed. I'm going to assume he's coming to us considering all the reports are about us an drew how he has a medical tomorrow...

So would having central option of

    Lemina, Romeu, JWP
    Davies, PEH, Claise

mean an end to the experiment of Tadic as a Number 10? There wouldn't be space for all those players playing centrally

I would think that adding another CB is needed regardless of VVD's position. I can't imagine Bednarek is ready to be so close to the team in the event of injuries. Unless Jones is making the step up this year...

Have to remember, only 3 of them are dm. If we get rid of Clasie it's back to two.
