The start of this season will be Fulham's 110th in the Football League. After a tentative start in that first season the Club finished 4th; five points behind the top team Bradford City and with stats for season 1907/08 of: Fulham P38 W22 D5 L11 F82 A49 Pts49 Our team pictured well to boot - please log in to view this image The highlight of the season however was a fantastic FA Cup run. This extract from a diary of the time sums it up perfectly: Sat 11 January 1908 Luton Town 3 Fulham 8(eight), played on a pitch like an ice-rink, in the FA Cup Sat 1 February 1908 FA Cup tie Norwich City 1 Fulham 2 was actually played at Craven Cottage at Norwich’s request. Sat 22 February 1908 FA Cup tie Manchester City 1 Fulham 1, played in mud and gale-force winds. Wed 26 February 1908 38000 crowd (a very high attendance) saw FA Cup replay Fulham 3 Manchester City 1 Wed 4 March 1908 impromptu meeting of the Fulham directors to decide what team to field at the weekend in the absence of key player Threlfall, who was injured. Sat 7 March 1908 41000 saw Fulham 2 Manchester Utd 1 in the FA Cup, with a celebratory pitch invasion as the final whistle went. In the evening the players and all the Fulham management went to the Alhambra ( in Leicester Square) to watch a film of the game. Tue 16 March 1908 some new shares in Fulham Football and Athletic Company were issued By Sat 21 March 1908 Fulham lost at Stockport County and effectively ended their chances of promotion to FL Division One Sat 28 March 1908 Fulham’s FA Cup run came to an ignominious halt in the semi-final at Anfield: Newcastle United 6 Fulham 0. So there you are, a wee bit of our history. Let's hope the 110th year brings it's own bit of history for us all to remember.
Believe it to be 1908 rosc. And probably the Man Utd cup game. Has to be after 1905 which is when Archibald Leitch built the Stevenage Road stand. Before that it was the 'Rabbit Hutches' - like this from 1903 please log in to view this image
