I did say I was putting a wheelbarrow job up for tomorrow as when I looked the tissue price was 7/4. However best opening show was 10/11 and I like my horses to at least double my pocket. One of my golden rules in bumpers is not to back them carrying a penalty but I was impressed with SOLEGLAD on debut and think he can go in again. On a seperate note. What a ridiculous price on the Olly Murphy runner tomorrow. We said this would happen!
The best bumper you will see all summer occurs in Galway. 3 potentially very good animals race each other, 2 for W Mullins and I wouldn't rule his 2nd string out too easily. Should make good viewing.
If we get a good winner I'd say it's fair to think it will go on to race at a decent level. The main 3 all won like good horses lto, it's hard to choose, by jockey booking I guess you have to favour the 1st string of Willie's but you must take a short price if you like it and I'm not sure it will be as clear cut as that. On collateral form thru Osco Mosco there's not a whole lot in it and they have a good gauge of Joseph's one with Poet Power beating Chess Grand Master by a similar distance to Santiago De Cuba during the week. I'd chance Katie's mount for Willie at the prices.
Caravaggio is out again tomorrow in the Maurice De Gheest over in Deauville. He'll have to start breaking more efficiently to be seen to best effect. Anyone any strong opinions or have you looked at the race even. He ought to win and win well once he breaks clean.
Longer trip should suit him but the home team have some fair sprinters. THE RIGHT MAN had a shocking passage through the race at Ascot and was not given a hard time once his chance had gone. He will love the underfoot conditions and looks fair value at 22/1 to my eye.
Is it not riding as good tomorrow? Yeah, The Right Man is good. Could be involved in the placings for sure.
3.55 Galway RIVEN LIGHT Took 7/2 about this lad yesterday to follow up his win from earlier in the week. Up a 7lb penalty for that win doesn't concern me and the drop back a furlong won't inconvenience him much based on the gears he showed then. Drawn in the car park is the only negative but Declan give him one of the best rides of the week the other evening weaving him through all sorts of traffic to win going away, I'm totally confident that with some luck in running (yeah I know not certain to get round here) he'll follow up with his second win of the week. In the bumper the lads are discussing above I've had a hefty bet from Tigris Rivers winnings on the fav, AINSI VA LA VIE at Evens. A breathtakingly easy winner on her first start for the GOAT beating a subsequent winner from the Elliott yard, dropping back 4f today and facing much better opposition here but I just think this is a bit of a monster the Supreme Horseracing Syndicate own and I'm expecting her to breeze round them all on the final bend and win going away.
Had a quick look at it, he's not really for me at even money. There just doesn't seem to be an obvious reason for his defeat at Newmarket, maybe the July course was abit to sharp for him compared with Ascot, and the extra half a furlong here could suit. Though that probably isn't the full reason for his defeat. All I know if he runs to the same level of form here, you probably won't be collecting. Brando would be my selection in the race if I was forced to pick one. I just think at 15/2 he's much less of a risk. There are better even money chances on a daily basis IMO.
The pacemaker was only beat 2L in the July Cup, it was a false race, the most muddling Group 1 sprint ive ever seen and form wise you can throw it out, its worthless. I would have preferred to see Caravaggio in the Nunthorpe at a good price but he should win this as its not a great race. Hes a dodgy starter and showed hes vulnerable in a messy race last time so not rushing to take a short price again and have backed one at a price for an interest. Would have given Aclaim a good chance in this field but running at goodwood 5 days ago puts me off.
The Prix Maurice De Gheest looks like a Group 1 race in name only. If Caravaggio is half decent, he should win this easily with Intelligence Cross presumably there to make sure they go a decent lick. We know he handles the prevailing soft ground and his fellows raiders have quite a bit to find on form: Magical Memory won an ordinary Group 3 last time and does Brando really want the extra half furlong? Of the home team, Fas would really have to put up an improved performance to feature, The Right Man last won in Meydan and was well beaten at Ascot, as was last year’s winner Signs Of Blessing; and Rosa Imperial is the unknown quantity for Andre Fabre. Stand by for the excuses if Caravaggio blows this one... Back on these shores, the main worry about Chester is whether they will get rain. Indeed, with the forecast for the coming week, I can see me stuffing my LDL winnings under the mattress and waiting for a dry spell. There seems to be quite a few obvious favourites at Chester, which usually results in a couple getting turned over, but the one that takes my fancy is REGULATOR in the 2:35. The ground is an unknown for Richard Fahey’s Acclamation colt but he receives weight from his four rivals and might be considered unlucky not to be coming here unbeaten (traffic trouble when second on debut).
Galway 3.55 Ma Fee Heela 10/1 5.00 Attribution 100/30 Chester 2.35 Regulator 3/1 Also done Caravaggio/Wuheida double 3/1
Bit of money for Jessica Harrington's Dragon Girl in the 3.20. I'd already backed Yulong Gold Fairy but I think I'll go e/w on the Harrington horse too as she might come on for the Fairyhouse defeat.
Caravaggio gone at the game fastest horse ever in ballydoyle, may as well run him in the Nunthrope now
Yet another top AOB 3yo who fails to hold its form in open company. This is all to familiar with his horses.
