Where did you see him saying we only need one more signing? Hope he doesn't really believe that... The issue we've got is the owner wants to sell so doesn't want to put too much more money in, it all seemed that we would be sold to a chinese group this Summer but apparently that has fallen through, thankfully I might add as it's apparent they didn't have a pot to piss in. So yeah it seems we're a bit in limbo at the moment, won't judge too harshly until the window is shut, but think we need a DM, AM and a replacement for Virgil if (when) he goes. This board have enough credit in the bank to get the benefit of the doubt for now. What makes you say MP is underwhelming btw?
I think it was on sky sports yesterday MP was asking for one signing. With regards to him being underwhelming, that's not to say he'll be a flop but with your team I'd probably expect somebody a little more colourful, he just screams beige at me. Maybe just me.
Well it's looking like we're signing this Lemina bloke from Juventus who looks exactly what we need tbh. I'd still hope for at least one or 2 more depending on the situation with Virgil. Think you're being a tad harsh on MP there, apparently plays a good brand of high pressing football which was the main complaint of Puel so I'm just gonna give him a chance and see how he gets on. Who do you think we could have attracted better realistically?
I wouldn't say better at this time because I don't know much about the bloke which is why I'm thinking he's underwhelming but again that's just my opinion. I'd have thought you could have got Marco Silva, Thomas Tuchel perhaps.
Fair enough Not convinced by Silva myself, decent prospect but still a long way to go, wouldn't have said no to him but then I would have been happy for Puel to get more time. Interested to see how Watford do this year. Tuchel was never gonna come to Southampton
Koeman had no where near the reputation Tuchel had though. Ron was still seen as a huge failure in Spain after Valencia, if Tuchel waits it out he'll get a much bigger club who spend more money.
Fair points, I hope it works out anyway cos I like Saints as a club, Le Tiss aside! If your club is genuinely up for sale then it shouldn't take long to find a buyer surely?
Depends, not like we'd be easy to make money off these days (compared to buying us as a L1 club)... and it would take a lot of investment to get us to the next level. Facilities and academy obviously top notch though. Rumoured price is around 80% stake for £180m. Always a lottery though with new owners. Glad the Chinese group fell through, looked like they were scrambling around for months trying to raise the funds and that didn't fill me with confidence.
