it wasn't a figure of speech, you're having a bit of a pop at Charltons demise. I really couldn't care less to be honest. My teams Charlton and we currently play in league 1. Does the fact that Southampton play in the premiership bother me, not in the slightest.

Well you're having a pop at us, it would be nice if we could have the support of similar sized clubs against the big boys. It's tough seeing players that you see grow with the club get plucked by them on a yearly basis. It's not the club's policy to sell these players it's just the whole rotten system where player power and greedy agents hold sway.
I have nothing against Charlton at all and hope that things improve for you, we have been there and it's not much fun.

 

I wasn't having a pop either, I was just stating an opinion. Throughout the years I have seen talent "cherry picked" at will, by the bigger clubs and somehow we should be greatfull. Do I think contracts should mean something, yes I do, but quite often our clubs are as much to blame as the players. Do you really think Klopp, Maureen, Pep, Conte really care that they cause massive unrest at other clubs. All they care about is the current 3-4 year project. If there was a will to change then it would change.
Charltons current business model is to sell on academy players if and when they make the first team squad, even though the owner is a billionaire and could invest more if he wanted. He replaces homegrown talent with loans or flops from another one oh his clubs in the network.
As a football fan, I gave up worrying about the total injustice years ago and now try to enjoy the moment.

Some Saints fans I agree have nibbled easily to some comments from other fans - especially those just here on the wind up, but on the whole 'outsiders' coming onto this thread have been crying 'precious' and 'sensitive' just because many Saints fans have disagreed with them or defended our stance. If lying down and saying it's okay for big clubs to cherry pick our players means we get respect from other boards on this forum, then I would say **** that and be content with being disliked

 

In all honesty mate, you appear to know as much about how Saints go about their business as I do about how Charlton go about theirs.

I'd say our business model has been a bit more successful than yours in the last 10 years though, wouldn't you?

 

To be honest Charlton probably have the worst owner/CE combination in the country. Wouldn't wish them tossers on anyone, even the blue few.
