if we do not buy any players now ..well i will be on big style at 9/2 ...for relegation .. you know what will happen , injuries and that team can not afford injuries ...
Good manager but I am amazed at his patience. Where is the money he was promised? Ashley can't be trusted
Shall I cancel your £5 on Rafa to leave on a chariot beating his gladiator breastplate whilst being blown off by Pouchy?
He was promised every penny we made. The PL money is in stages as you know so we unfortunately don't have the wedge up front.
I want to believe he knew the score and this was what he was told when we were spending big in the championship I think it came to a point where him/Carr went, thankfully they made the right choice for a change and backed the winner
I think Rafa and Charnley thought they would have generated some cash through sales by now but it's be hard going. A lot of deals will go to the last week by the looks of it. I expect us to do some business in January as well with cash flow probably in a better position by then.
It's this level of insight and unteachable genius that keeps people like me returning, without fail. Love it.
Yep - this for me we were never going to be able to address every position within one transfer window, so it might be a case of "making do" in certain less critical positions until Jan. Think this will be LB & No10 I think we'll still have another 3 in before the end of Aug - Striker, CM & Keeper (cos Rafa wants one)
Can we define good? All the players who have come in look to be able to do a job so far and we aren't a team that can look to buy Lukaku or Agueo. People clamoring for Batsuyui or Bas Dost - love to have them on board but its unrealistic. I mean just look at players like Caballero and Abraham's preferring to join Chelsea's bench or a Swansea team that struggled last year a head of us. Think we need to appreciate the fact this season is all about Benitez's coaching ability, getting a fairly average bunch of players playing well and look to build from next season. IRWT For the record I think 2 more signings and it'll be a pretty good window (I'd settle for an unrealistically good striker signing - hear Bale will be on the move...)
I think we've got enough to make a decent account of ourselves in the first half of the season. We have 3 decent strikers in my opinion in Gayle/Mitro/Perez. We've got 4 decent wingers now in Ritchie, Murphy, Aarons and Atsu. If we can keep De-Jong fit he could be a key player for us so all in all I'm pretty happy with how our squad currently shapes up.
Agreed. Even at CB I'd say we look better than when we went down - Lacelles has another years experience, Mbemba was our only decent CB last time round and Lejuene and Clark are upgrades on Colo and Taylor.
Well leading journos claim Rafa is at last straw stage. Crazy window or not Benitez is not entering a PL season with a choice of Missrovic and Gayle up front.
Another club, this time Brighton, signing a player I can only cast envious glances toward in Davy Propper. I think that more or less completed the set where every, single club has signed at least one player who would have improved our team. Hell a good few Championship clubs have done that.
Could have said that last season too, there will always be one player everyone buys that could improve our team by window's end. Course we haven't gone about buying the 19 players that are all the best buys of each individual team. Rafa clearly didn't want Propper as we weren't linked once and he's gone for 10m so we'd have atleast heard we'd made some derisory 6m bid, I'm trusting Rafa's opinion oddly enough
He himself says we need to sell to buy so fail to see what's changed there. Mitrovic, Gayle and Perez (who always looked better in strike than AM) and we'll have a striker by the end of the window, doesn't faze me
