That's where we differ. I always think it's a cop-out to have a narrator - it always strikes me like the story didn't hang together so they needed a narrator to make sense of it. By not having a narrator in Blade Runner it made Deckard appear more isolated, and better served the suggestion that he was a replicant. I will allow it in Forrest Gump. And the Princess Bride. But apart from them... oh, and I love the use of a narrator in Mr Robot. And Goodfellas. And The Royal Tennenbaums. Oh, and Clockwork Orange. Oh bollocks.
The wife's choice; Snoopy Come Home Big Grease Death Becomes Her Overboard Ridiculous. Special mentions: Muppet's Christmas Carol, The Witches, Mary Poppins, Flash Gordon Mental. 44. I have young children and I'm getting into this genre for the first time. I must say that watching a film with others who also enjoy is a big factor in your own enjoyment, and how much joy do kids have in watching a film? Massive.
I remember going to see the directors cut with DBT & being hugely disappointed ... they'd just cut bits out ! - I do prefer the film noir narration - the 'director's cut' is not the best version FACT !
Blade Runner Original (European) version or The Final Cut Pulp Fiction The Italian Job (original) Singles Trains Planes & Automobiles all of the above subject to change (apart from 1)
Casablanca The Magnificent Seven The Searchers Saving Private Ryan Field of Dreams That's a rather American list, I suppose!
The Usual Suspects Trainspotting Shawshank Goodfellas Full Metal Jacket or Apocalypse now?? Guilty pleasure - Night at the Roxbury
And why not as bazza used to say. Field of dreams, great film. Burt was ace in a cameo role and it brings a lump to your throat when he gets to play ball with his dad again.
Started watching The Green mile last night , forgot how good that was and surprised not made more lists
