Looks like this may be a marathon not a sprint.

When so many rich people start playing around, the rest get annoyed by the common wealth games.

Right let's cut to the (steeple) chase and get this thread back on (the running) track. We've got a farah old way to go before this thread runs it's course.

Are people going? I'm going this Saturday, and next Saturday and Sunday. Delighted with tickets. Last ever track races for Bolt (4x100) and Farah (5k). Both legends in their own ways. I'm really interested to see how Laura Muir runs. She is brilliant to watch, so gutsy. Could make herself a household name.

Glad that the London crowd have shown what they think of drugs cheat Justin Gatlin. What a different reaction to Bolt <applause>

It is not Gatlin's fault. Blame the authorities. Really I think the crowd booing any athlete is ignorant. Unlike glorified footballers they work very hard.

That has got to have been the greatest 10,000m race ever, well inside 27 minutes. Well done all the athletes for making Mo Farah work so hard for that victory. It was brilliant to see Mo Farah surrounded by the might of East Africa, all wanting to beat him and all wanting to beat each other. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. I have always loved the Kenyans so I was willing one of them to win, but Mo Farah has proved himself tonight to be the greatest 10,000m runner ever.

He's a drug cheat even if you ignore the first ban for medication that he'd taken for years. Sorry, no sympathy at all - other athletes had to work harder because he had an unfair advantage. I'd have booed Sharapova if she'd played at Wimbledon - a cheat is a cheat.

A briliant race. Well inside 27 minutes which is absolutely unbelievable! Mo's greatest race, one of the great races.

There were 6 Kenyans in that race, 3 representing Kenya, 2 had USA shirts on and the other Bahrain. Plus 3 Ugandans, 3 Ethiopians, plus some Eritrains and Mo, we can see where great distance runners come from. No Europeans at all, except Mo! Well he is both!!

There is a whole plethora of them. Tyson Gay, Blake have been surrounded by controversy. I think it is too easy to condemn athletes for this. Our own Dwain Chambers. Most might take medication to appear in a GP for which they get paid. No appearance, no money. I don't think the medication is used to really enhance performance, although it might. One athlete used it to enlarge his manhood.

If you believe that Ides, I think you're a little naive. Every single athlete knows what can or can't be taken.

At the end of the day though, there are rules and every athlete, especially the top class ones, know that. These rules aren't new. Gatland was banned for having elevated testosterone in his system which surely must increase his strength and speed. Just because other people do it doesn't make it right. You either take the drug and accept the consequences or you stay clean. The sentence I've made bold sounds as though you're saying that because they can win good money then it's OK for them to be drug cheats. No. Just no.

You have a point!! Let's talk about the athletics! Who are people going to cheer tomorrow?. Usain Bolt, Forte ( a young Jamaican) or even a Brit should one or both qualify. I'd like the result in the men's 100m to be Coleman, Forte and Bolt. It is good to see a young American coming to the fore again.
