I've not had a proper look at the cards yet but first thing that stands out is William Buick riding at Donny rather than Goodwood. He has 6 rides, all with a chance so lucky 63 it is.
Tracker says 'smash into Mountain Rock nto' Can't remember why i wrote that. Runs in the 2.30 at Galway and is 7/2.
MOUNT MORIAH 5/1 Goodwood 3:00 A pretty poor turnout for this group three race and a weakish looking field to boot. Crystal Ocean has obvious claims having been placed in both the Dante and the King Edward but I have a strong feeling that the conditions will not be in this ones favour. The selection has 10lbs to make up on official ratings and has only been handicapping but the last three runs have shown progression followed by progression. He scooted clear from from Getback In Paris at Ascot last time, it will be interesting to see if the form gets complemented before the off. Underfoot conditions will hold no fear to Ralph Beckett's gelding and Jakes Hill should really set a decent enough gallop. I expect to see him take over at the two pole and will not be for catching.

Will be one to look out for possibly over hurdles at 2m4f plus please log in to view this image Fairly useful hurdler. 9/10, below form second of 7 in maiden at Leopardstown (15f, good to firm) 23 days ago, left poorly placed. Switches from Flat to hurdles. Cheekpieces on 1st time. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Get back in Paris for Richard Hughes in the second at Goodwood . See this horse win quite easily over cd earlier in the summer up in class but I think. There's more to come Cheers.
Get back in Paris for hughsie in the second at Goodwood . See him win over cd earlier in the summer, up in class but should go close.
15:35 Goodwood - Sir Dancealot (Bunbury Cup 2nd is good form, and should handle ground. Took the 10/1 generally available atm. Further comments on Stewards Cup thread). Good luck!
Has a chance in a weak race Bob but the favourite is definitely a little classier than Mountain Rock. They backed MR heavily lto and he was destroyed by Sandymount Duke over just shy of 2 miles, which wouldn't instill great confidence over 2 miles today unless the fave massively underperformed. Mountain Rock over 3 miles down the line should be winning some handicaps. As it's so weak, I think he only has the fave to beat so maybe on at 7/2 you're not too bad incase that one misfires.
Don't know who the trainer on the opening show is but fancies your tip he said if get back in Paris wins lump on
Donjuan Triumphant 20/1 in the Stewards Cup. Has won a group 2 and is better on a softer surface. Has been running over further and they will need to stay a bit today. Also a small each way saver on Lancelot du Lac 33/1. Both with Skybet for 7 places.
Already on Projection but will also have a little dabble each way on PERFECT PASTURE in the stewards cup at 50/1. Don't understand the price on this one at all - form ties in well with a lot of others at half the price in the market, goes well on most ground, decent enough course form, Atzeni booked
Why is Sir Dancealot running off 101 today, last time he came 2nd off a mark of 106 why has he been dropped 5lbs for that, am i missing something?
Entries for this race closed early and the handicap marks that the horses run off today were those that the horses had back in June. Sir Dancelot had been dropped to 101 at that point. He subsequently ran second in the Bunbury Cup, for which the official handicapper has raised his rating to 110. Because he did not win that race, he has not picked up a penalty in the Stewards’ Cup, so he is theoretically 9lb well in today. He could not run in the Goodwood 4:45 as it is restricted to horses rated 86-105 but if he ran in the Newmarket 4:25 he would be carrying 9st 11lb because of his 110 rating, as it was not an early closing race.
In the next St Leger trial, the Gordon Stakes, I think that John Gosden’s Khalidi should handle the ground well enough to take care of Crystal Ocean and shorten his odds for the St Leger. In such a small field, the only one with front-running experience is outsider Jake’s Hill so this may turn into a three furlong sprint. No bet. My bet of the day is LUGANO in the Newmarket 5:00. He was turned over at 4/7 in a five-runner race at Ayr last time but had run up a sequence of four prior to that setback, admittedly the first two on artificial surfaces. His last victory was by an easy four and a half lengths, for which the handicapper has seen fit to raise him 10lbs; hence today he is a decent price and top weight. Of his rivals, Thundering Blue is up 7lb for winning over two furlongs less by four and a half lengths; Stamford Raffles takes a drop in trip with his four career wins being over further; C’est No Mour needs to find some more improvement to complete a hat-trick; and Hollywood Road may be the biggest danger stepping up a couple of furlongs after being outpaced last time. Interesting to note that Salateen, a non-runner at Goodwood the other day on soft ground, runs in the Newmarket 4:25, trying to give 5lb to Mark Johnston’s three year old that won readily over course and distance on soft ground but is 9lb higher today.
Hayley turner to ride in France for weight allowance. Oh how many puns (lbs) does that open the gates for
