On the subject of tear jerkers, think Cinema Paradiso does it for me.

So much so, there's no point in me watching it anymore.

Damn wanted to be the first to say, Planes Trainsand automobiles. Absolutely love that film, love watching it with my kids. John Candy was just brilliant. Between two pillows....<laugh><laugh><laugh>

The Searchers. Brought up on westerns and this was the best. When my lad was two I watched it with him. He watched it every day for a bout a year, I got a bit worried in the end.

Once Upon a Time in America. If James Woods wasn't such a Nightmare and impossible to work with he'd have had a much bigger....<laugh>

It's a Wonderful Life. Jimmy Stewart at his best.

Cool Hand Luke. Gonna be some world shaking going on

Being a child of the 80s....

Ghostbusters (the 1984 original of course)
    Back to the Future
    Gremlins
    Pulp Fiction
    Leon

    Close to top 5....

    Shawshank Redemption
    Reservoir Dogs
The Terminator (yep I'm one of the few to prefer the first over T2)

Love the first two Monty Python films and I have to give an honourable mention to the sort of Monty Python spin-off - Time Bandits. They don't make kids films that dark and surreal these days!

    ...........Clockwork Orange...........

What a sack of 'MASSIVELY' overrated pile of ****e that is!

If ever I've seen and read so many artsy fartsy critics ****ing about absolutely anything, it's this utter ****.

    Just my opinion though.

Good point about westerns. I'll throw in A Fistful of Dollars as my fifth film.

I think it's a film of 2 halves - the first is brilliant, the second poor.

General impression I've always got is that Terminator 2 is more popular - I've had many conversations trying to justify why I prefer the first, but IMDB ratings put T2 ahead. I think it's a very entertaining sequel in its own right but once you strip out the special effects and stunts from it, the original stands out as being far more darker, grittier and menacing.
