They're obviously banking on the fact that people won't be arsed to cancel it each season and then join again the following season. Either that, or there'll be a two month notice of cancellation so you save nothing, as happens with the membership scheme.
At least they've got our name right now... Hull City are back in the Championship for the 2017/8 season, and you can hear every game this season LIVE on Viking 2! They've have appointed former Russian national coach Leonid Slutsky for the top job, and you'll be able to follow every kick of the ball on Viking 2 DAB and 1161 AM. The first game of the season is Aston Villa v Hull City at Villa Park in Birmingham, on Saturday 5th August - Kick Off is 5.30 https://preview.planetradio.co.uk/v...ar-every-hull-city-game-live-season-viking-2/
I was just talking to some guy in the Commercial department at City and I asked him about any cancellation policy. He couldn't find it on the site (just like I can't), so he's following up and will e-mail me the details once he's found them, if any.
Perhaps there are some basic questions we divs might benefit from being answered by someone who really knows: Is there going to be a free-of-charge commentary on Viking 2 - I know what their initial statement said, that there will be, but there have been some odd follow-up remarks? If yes, then what are the listening restrictions - will it be restricted to the radio network and excluded from internet radio? (I appreciate OLM has given polite clarity, but it is all a tad confusing as it progresses) The most recent outpourings seem to intimate that the only way is via Tigers TV and that is what always confused me, as that would be typical of the Allams. As I don't listen to the commentaries I asked if the Viking commentaries (last season) were a trial run (as has been said on here) and ran instead of the RH commentaries - or were there two on some matchdays? I would think it unlikely, but it also shows that RH had ample contractual notice of this change. For me things are far from clear and the basic facts, that any div needs, are not as clear and basic as they could be, for anyone.
The only certainty I'm aware of is that they have debited my credit card for one months usage of Tiger TV. Caveat emptor !
Viking 2 will broadcast game commentaries on AM and online, but online is restricted to East Yorkshire/North Lincolnshire, outside of these areas you'll need to pay to get Tigers TV. Last season, RH did commentaries on the radio (again restricted to East Yorkshire/North Lincolnshire), but Viking did the commentaries for Tigers TV (or Tigers Player as it was called last season).
I'm about 3 miles from the stadium and I can't so...not very far! I thought it was totally blocked online for free to be honest (I don't know anything about Hull City AFC TV so that may be different)
The regional lock online is going to be very difficult if not impossible to enforce .... unless they know every range of IP address that is in the Yorkshire region , will be very interested to see how that pans out as RH simply didn't broadcast online during the game because it is almost impossible to enforce a region online
The only way that a region can be enforced is either through an ISP , or by a country when your talking about online ... Sense would prevail that it would be country locked but I fear it will be a mess and be something like KCOM customers only
I thought that the regional reception was through normal radio, not online and have accepted online will probably get you the Shilites or Dancing On The Ceiling. But these are the basic facts we should all have a grip of. Come on Al, give us all the benefit of your knowledge ...
You'll be able to receive the radio though, I assume. I'm 25 miles away and could only just get FM commentary if I stood in the bedroom with one leg on the bed and the other out the window with tin foil on it. No chance with AM.
Reading on Viking 2's website I think they are doing the same as Radio Humberside did, Regional through DAB and AM radio only and not online at all. https://planetradio.co.uk/viking-2/...ar-every-hull-city-game-live-season-viking-2/
