As far as I can see, unless there's some kind of legal element I never experienced in 10 years of football press conferences, then if the host club allow Humberside to attend then there's nothing City can do about it. I've hosted press conferences in which the visiting team had banned journalists and media outlets from their home games but they were given all access at our game. And in the unlikely event there is a stipulation that Viking are solely allowed to report on Hull City games home and away then Humberside could say they're reporting on Aston Villa's home game and then another 23 clubs' home games every other week. As I said, I've not looked into the detail of this particular case but on the surface I fail to see how City could influence who covers what from the press box at Villa Park.
In their press release, Viking FM referred to us as Hull Tigers and Hull City Tigers. Some fans have complained and messaged them and they've apologised, called the press release a typo and have said they will call us Hull City from now on (which is apparently the name the club told them to use anyway).
The word typo is becoming more and more liberally used. There is no way calling us that name could ever be considered a typo, not even if Steve Wonder was sat at the ****ing keyboard.
There's nothing to stop Humberside from sending someone to a game, they just can't commentate on it, the rights to broadcast live commentary are sold and RH no longer have those rights. This is ignoring the fact that RH desperately want the rights back and wouldn't entertain any daft action that would make that even less likely in the future.
What we don't know is how much will there is on Humberside's part to do that. They've lost Tiger Player income that must have offset the travel costs & expenses. Surely there would have to be a large "public interest" to justify doing it, especially when competing against a "local" provider who is now fulfilling the role. I'm not sure they could justify it. How could you defend "Why are you spending my license fee sending Burns and Swanny all over the country to duplicate what is done by another station - if I was that bothered I would listen to Viking"?
I understand they can't do live commentary, that's why I didn't say that. They could do in game reports in the same way Viking did when Humberside had the rights.
I don't know why the BBC bothers with the News at Ten, it's not in the public interest as you can watch the news on ITV.
Yeah, because the News at Ten and a Hull City away match commentary provide the same public value as per the BBC charter...
Still saying you only need Tigers TV for live online commentaries if you're abroad... Make the new and improved Tigers TV your big signing this summer and support Leonid Slutsky's side wherever you are, whenever you want. The Tigers begin their assault on the Sky Bet Championship at Aston Villa on Saturday and you can follow the action live online via Tigers TV with official match commentary. Live audio commentary - provided by Viking FM - will also see former players such as Dean Windass, Bryan Hughes and Craig ***an provide in-depth analysis. On matchdays you won't miss a kick as Tigers TV brings you live audio commentary of all Championship, Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup fixtures during the 2017/18 campaign. It remains the only place to listen to commentary of Leonid Slutsky's side online. So if you're unable to make it to the game for whatever reason or are a Tigers fan living abroad, make sure you sign-up to Tigers TV before the season kicks-off! Now compatible across all devices, live commentary is available at the touch of a button on android and IOS devices, as well as standard desktop and laptop computers, starting one hour before kick-off. A subscription to Tigers TV represents outstanding value for money and brings supporters closer to the action, week in, week out. Monthly passes are available for just £4.49 per month, while the best value is to purchase a season pass for just £45!
Well on that basis you could have had people asking on previous seasons why they pay the license fee when they have to pay again to listen to it outside the Hull area in the UK.
Actually that says the opposite: 'So if you're unable to make it to the game for whatever reason or are a Tigers fan living abroad, make sure you sign-up to Tigers TV before the season kicks-off!' So if you aren't at the match you should subscribe to Tigers TV to listen to the match wherever you are. It is now ignoring the availability of the commentary on Viking DAB. Are these twats ballsing this up on purpose?!
It's £4.49 per month. They say the best value is a season pass for £45. We will only play games from August til May. 10 months. 10x£4.49=£44.90. 10p better to pay monthly.
Everyone's got mobiles. Maybe Humberside could encourage fans at the away grounds to ring in with updates. Probably it goes against the rights issues.
UPDATE for non-UK based punters: I've just managed to sign up to the monthly option using the credit card payment option. I received a confirmation e-mail showing the payment was accepted, and the e-mail address given in case of problems is: [email protected] The acid test will of course come 1 hour before kick-off tomorrow for the audio commentary and presumably n Sunday sometime to see if I can access the full 90 minute match video. Edit: The PayPal option is not available yet - coming soon the site says.
That doesnt sound a good idea. "Tim is at the game. What's happening?" "****ing scenes mate. We've ****ing scored a beauty. Have it."
